What foreign viewers may not understand is that all these characters used to exist in real life, and they are played so beautifully. Now 40 years later only a few people are like this and we have different society.
@susandumbill88052 жыл бұрын
I used to work in a v posh restaurant in London in the early 80's as a commis waitress. We had to do silver service, not always easy to get right! We had customers from all over the world, many v easy to serve. But some of the Brits could be really awkward - one bloke would insist on having tomato ketchup, even with a posh meal, and made quite a big deal of it! (One of our favourite customers!!) After dealing with the likes of this I'd make a hasty retreat to the kitchen, have a crafty cigarette, and watch the Head Chef mess around with some of his prepared delicacies, when in a mean mood! The Head Waiters wore posh gear, and strutted around as if they were 'gods', while we laughed at them, and the (meat & poultry) 'Carvers' would hang around the customers ' tables after serving whatever - it- was, like vultures, waiting for a tip! Yes, these were the days of real characters in real life. If only someone would write a Sit Com about the likes of these...! Basil would be great as the Restaurant Manager! Sibyl as the Cashier, and Polly as a waitress of course! (Maybe she could play my part - the cheeky 18 year old from 'The North' in her first job!!!)
