They didn’t mess up in the anime Sarada only had 1 tomoe for the longest and in a filler arc gave her 2 specific so she could technically be able to successfully pull of a chidori but Sarada never had 3 tomoe in the anime

This is one of those fights that the anime changed that just confuses canon for no reason. In the manga Sarada has her 3 tomoe in this fight, and a lot of her feats are given to.Mitsuki and downplayed.
