I used to be only a Ford man but watching you actually got me looking in to buying a Toyota Tacoma
@highlandcommunications1627Ай бұрын
My wife had a Tacoma and loved it. I have a 2016 Tundra...best 1/2 ton truck I've ever had. I'll keep that truck till the wheels fall off. I'm approaching 110k miles and it's still going strong. Getting ready to service front/rear diffs, transfer case, new plugs, and the serpentine belt (w/ idler and tensioner)

Excellent work, Faye and yes, Danny is the man! Very cool. I like your attention to detail and how you annotate the service manuals. Toyoa makes fantastic RMs. I just bought one (printed in Japan in '88) for my gearbox and it's so good. I have loads of mostly electronic RMs, which are mostly scanned and I do annotate these, but you've turned yours into a fab scrapbook, but for a project like the supercharger it's the best way to work. I once didn't reapply nuts on my fan pulley and this was not very smart, but not a disaster, just a learning point. Nice to see a Lava Lamp in a workshop, too. Can't wait for p3!!

You are as OCD about the little things as I am, like wiping dirt off a cable harshness just because! Yea, Danny is the man and amazing. Now back to the blanking power steering bolt you need 2 universals, a 3" and 1" extension because the engineer thought it was funny to put it so the the rachet will only fit between every bracket and hose possible.🤣

Great content as always, Im a little old school with my oil changes. On my daily its every 3500 miles, on my street/track cars it will depend on how I've been driving them. As there are so many variables in not only how fast oil will break down but hard parts as well. As someone in the comments pointed out, attention to detail is very important. BTW: My 2000 Chevy Silverado Z71 4x4 project truck, I was just fine working on it at stock ride height. Then I lifted it 4in (Eventually going to do a long travel kit) any ways, working on it became a pain in the ass so I picked up a folding truck creeper which allows you to lay over the engine bay and work. It was life changing. No more sore knee's or jumping down off my bumper multiple times. It was worth every penny I spent on it.

My 09🌮 has the TRD supercharger (presumably dealer installed) and preventative maintenance does make for an extra challenge... so far I've replaced the nose cone gear oil, belt and tensioner.... also replacing sparkplugs on L side of engine with supercharger is quite fun if u know what I mean!
@FayeHadleyАй бұрын
I hear you on that!! The supercharger makes things just a little more complicated 😂 I've done quite a bit of work SINCE I installed this (May, I'm slow at editing!!) and it's been a challenge! Also, the spark plug gapper is the style I have used for 30 plus years but the blue shop rags give me ojida! I was charging a head gasket on a Dodge Colt and had them in the two cylinders at BDC and forgot to remove them because I didn't see them 😁. It takes 45 minutes to extract them through the spark plug holes😉😂🤣😂

You are so awesome Faye! Thanks for all of these amazing tutorials! I always learn a ton from you….. I noticed you didn’t use a catch can… is that something you would recommend? Or is that in part 3? Also, where can one look for a “Toyota” supercharger? How different is it from Magnuson? Are there still Toyota install kits available? I apologize for all the questions… please forgive me! My brother was a Toyota MDT, ever since he passed, I no longer have Toyota resource. I have to depend on you and forums. 😢 and its all his fault for making me buy all these Toyota’s! Lol
@FayeHadleyАй бұрын
Magnuson makes it! They are pretty similar. And, I'm actually not a huge fan of catch cans.... I have one on my Supra right now but it's in lieu of a good pcv system. The Tacoma has a great pcv system so I'm going to monitor blow by with the new system but I think it's going to be good! There are also adjustable PVC valves for boosted applications I'm considering trying too! But as far as Toyota, these are discontinued sadly.... you can still find NOS (like I did!) or used out there but nothing more from the dealership 😟

Where can I buy upper idlers for TRD supercharger? Where can I buy the TRD tensioner?

Hi Faye , I love your stuff ! Your advice please I want to buy a new or slightly used truck in the next 6 months , but am really scared of certain features . My pick: V8 - 5.3 or larger , 1/2 ton 2 WD , port fuel injection , preferably a Silverado or Sierra I don’t care about interior features like screen and cameras , heated seats etc. Trying to AVOID the follow: Direct injection VVT Fuel Management , AFM or DFM ( Cylinder deactivation ) TURBO chargers ** Especially the Cylinder deactivation ! Is it possible to find a model that comes close to this ? I was told that if you move up to the 3/4 ton you can avoid the fuel management . Please ! We would LOVE Your opinion ? Thanks. Matt B.
