Something ive noticed is that AT and KSI have really similar fighting styles. they both blitz forward, throwing a few punches and ducking as they get inside, clinch, fight in the clinch a little, the ref breaks them, rinse and repeat. The main difference, (and the reason that people consider AT to be boring and JJ entertaining) is the risk factor involved with how they get on the inside. With AT, he's a lot more defenive and you never feel like hes in any real trouble, whereas JJ will place himself in a lot of danger and is willing to be caught with shots going in. However theres a limit to how much you can clinch before people will call you boring regardless, and unfortunately it feels like this was proven very true in his fight with Tommy. The lack of defense could also be considered a lack of ability rather than an intentional choice (I personally think it's a bit of both), and I hope KSI can fix a lot of that before his inevitable fight with Jake

A lot of folks don’t realize that Tommy was and is the first influencer boxer. Most pro boxers have 30 to 40 amateur fights, Tommy doesn’t have near that total. His name affords him the title pro boxer, but in reality he really is the final boss of posh boxing

At the end of the day, if people want to watch clean technical boxing, misfits probably isn't for you, so just don't watch it. I don't understand why a lot of people feel the need to watch and comment on videos surrounding influencer boxing to tear it down for not being "real boxing" or "fake boxing". You guys are right but i also think that the reason the karate stance works so well here at least imo is because traditionally karate isnt taught in a way where you can constantly attack the opponent, where ksi is doing it in a boxing ring while mixing boxing skills into the karate like turning over that right hand on tommy and still having decent form even in the middle of moving with that explosive movement its actually so impressive hes not loosing balance most people would fall over after some of the punches he throws out.

Towards the judging, I agree with everything said, but one reason they maybe don't do judging during the rounds: The judges get heavily pressured (and possibly pushed towards different scoring) by the crowd, because it would get really hostile if they don't agree with the scoring

I think an easy fix would be to separate the judges from the crowd… with technology and cameras nowadays you can judge and score in the box away from the crowd’s manipulation.. and since it’s recorded (from many angles) you would be able to look back at the round during the break between and judge even more accurately.

The reason you can't see the score is because of literally what ksi did, clinching is allowed but clinching excessively will get you no where and judges love a good fight not a hug fest, the reason live score isn't a thing is because if you see you're winning you can start to waste time because your winning, jjs corner let him down they should always say it's close you need to do more, when I watch fighters corners some fighters are blatantly winning but the corner will say this is a close fight you.need to come out stronger or they'll say you gotta drop this guy you can't leave this to the judges

If every other live sport does it, there’s always a chance at a comeback if the individual/teams are down. If they’re a true competitor, they put their foot on the accelerator and try to get the W. I fully agree that it’s possible, however live scoring would also allow for more accountability towards judging etc. especially if it’s clearly a broken and flawed system. Too many mistakes should really force a change but in boxing, clearly does not

Tommy wasn't unprepared KSI is just that good - I called it this way for months leading up to the fight. Naw Tommy is a good boxer, KSI is just awkward. I wouldn’t say he’s good. I mean it’s obvious from the fight he only has the right hand and clinching ability. He isn’t defensively sound, doesn’t have combination punching, his jab is trash, and most importantly, it’s like the guy doesn’t control where he punches. If he actually had coordination I genuinely believe he could’ve KOed Tommy in the 1st round. But instead his big right hand landed on Tommy’s trap/neck. If that landed flush on the chin or temple when Tommy wasn’t ready, he’s getting dropped. But the unorthodox style just makes it hard to fight you. Coming from someone who actually boxes, sometimes the hardest fights are from the worst fighters. And that’s because they have no tune or rhythm to their movements.

ksi’s style was deliberately made to be difficult in order to avoid actual boxing and try to get around it while hoping to land something while blitzing in and then clinch. so in my mind ksi’s strategy is closer to what dillon danis did in the logan paul fight than tommy fury fighting jake paul and we absolutely should not be praising that and acting like he pulled off some miracle… anybody can clinch anyone for a whole fight and survive just like danis just put his hands up and survived.

KSI should have been deducted a point for holding Tommy an excessive amount of time. He ruined his own promotion. It's his fault alone. All the eyes were on this event. Politicians, other sports athletes, and most importantly, other boxers and boxing promotions. He came out like Lu Kang and held Tommy. Tommy tried to box the guy. Wtf was KSI doing? The ref was absolutely a disgrace. The promotion was incredible. The buildup was amazing. The fight was shit strictly because of KSI. He embarrassed the promotion with that shit. it was a solid event, i think people need to chill out with the expectation of a fantastic boxing show, This is not designed for boxing fans. this is for the fans of youtubers who want to see them compete in a sport and provide entertainment, And sometimes we even get a knockout. The sport is on the fall, Fighters are not fighting each other, Lets look at the heavy boys right now. Tyson fury is pulling a jake paul and fighting an MMA fighter for some reason... Fighting Dillian whyte and Dereck Chisora for the 93rd time that are below his technical skill level but is not willing to speak AJ or usyk who i actually think would beat both of them. KZbinrs are not supposed to be dedicated boxing fanatics They are there to have a punch on. Its not great boxing, I dont even call it boxing, Just call it a fight or a scrap, Its all it really is. With rules and storylines. Its a WWE event but people are actually attempting to hit each other. I’m tired of these guys over crediting KSI just because of his “unusual” style. They think just because it’s different it’s effective. First off Tommy himself is a mediocre fighter. Second there’s a reason why ksi style never been seen in boxing. It’s because it doesn’t work against people who aren’t sub par and technically. It’s a very straight forward and predictable style. Any body with half a brain would recognize that if a fighter bounces a lot especially hands down it means that the person is reliant on quick explosive movements. KSI literally forced clinches the whole fight. He did jumping jacks outside of boxing distance, and exploded into a clinch. I don’t care how good Tommy is, the sheer dedication KSI had in sprinting into that clinch the entire fight is very hard to stop. Anytime he found himself in boxing range he was getting clipped by Tommy. Tommy won that fight. KSI should’ve been docked points for clinching. Clinching is allowed in boxing, but intentional clinching isn’t and it ruins boxing and that’s quite literally all KSI did for the entire fight. Put Tommy against anyone willing to stay in boxing range and he shows you his skills. He’s a fantastic novice boxer, and that’s all he claims to be.

Mams should try real-time round by round scoring. It makes the fight WAYYYY more suspenseful because even if one fighter would win all rounds, you'd still have that potential knockout that can happen and it encourages the losing opponent to really go for it. I don’t think it was just the co main that lacked. This was supposed to show how JJ was the top of influencer boxing and it just wasn’t that. I get clinches happen but it was all it was. On top of that his coaches were telling him to keep clinching to try and get points deducted. It was just super unwatchable and it didn’t live up to the hype at all. Jake lost but it was still an entertaining fight. JJ lost and it was horrible to watch at the same time. JJ didn’t look any better in my opinion outside of the one uppercut he threw.

The concept of live scoring is dope, but i think that it would complicate the coaching and strategizing between rounds, because a fighter would be trying to process 3 different scorecards and figuring out how to play to the judges rather than focusing on the actual fight. The fact that anyone thinks ksi even deserved a tie after clinching and hugging 10 times every round and only hitting maybe two or three solid shots is wild. Even with a point deduction on Tommy (which btw ksi did too multiple times) ksi just clenched and innefectively at that. Not many points were scored for Ksi during the clinch because not many shots even did anything. Smart refs will call it right. These refs called it perfectly. In my opinion this was still a close fight, but the outcome of a boxing match can indeed depend on 1 point. Grow up and just take the L.
