Stanley Note talks all about his work with First Fortnight and Therapy sessions Cork.
Stanley Notte is a writer, poet, artist and performer whose work has appeared in print (Writer’s Magazine, The Galway Review, A Journey Called Home) and on radio (RedFM (Cork), Soho Radio London and Lagan Online's Poetry Day Ireland MixTape.
As a spoken word artist Stanley has appeared at a variety of festivals throughout Ireland (Body and Soul, It Takes A Village, Indiependance, 96/1 and the Clonakilty Arts Festival). In addition Stanley supported Stephen James Smith on his 2018 Irish Tour, and Linton Kwesi Johnson show at Live At St Lukes in 2019.
In 2019 he performed ‘The Truth Is…’ a show written specifically about his journey at a number of venues and events. These included the Limerick Fringe Festival, Psoken Rwod, Clonakilty and Coliemore House, Cobh.
His poetry film Peter and the Wolf - Aladdin Sane? (After David Bowie) was shortlisted at the Cork Indie Film Festival in 2016, screened at the Dublin Bowie Festival in January 2017, and long listed at the Rabbit Heart Festival 2018.
His poetry film Mrs Xavier (after The Frank And Walters) placed third in the Doolin Writers Video Competition in 2019.
In 2017 Stanley was chosen to perform in the UK as part of the Twin Cities cultural exchange between O'Bheal (Cork) and Fire and Dust (Coventry).
Between 2014 and 2018 Stanley co-founded and curated Solstice Sounds, a bi-annual magazine that is Ireland's only regular spoken word publication.
