That One so what? At least they have models of other races. Today’s companies also hire more women because they “have to”. It doesn’t matter if their intentions aren’t pure at least it gives these people a chance to work in the same industry as their white counterparts. It’s not ideal but it’s a good start. But no, you guys act like we need to go back to discriminating against anyone who isn’t white as if it’s the best option.

Today they look mostly numb or angry because they are always hungry.. a lack of food can make a person numb, distressed, nervous, bad mooded, easily upset, anxious and extremley over-sensitive. @KarinaSwan Жыл бұрын
I used to model and back then I was told my walk is good, but I still took lessons for it before I started working, because it wasn't just about rushing through the runway. In short, the way we were taught "in the old days", was to take our time and to show the clothes well. All these turns and twirls the supermodels are doing (there are specific ones) are not for nothing, it shows the clothes more and it looks more elegant. The time isn't only needed to make it look beautiful on the runway, but also for the rest of the models to have enough time to change backstage, because there's a smaller rotation. I did it a bit after those times the classic runways, but the rules for still the same, as it only started to really change in the last, about a decade.
@KarinaSwan Жыл бұрын
Now, people rarely want to actually work (no judgement, a fact), so everything is simplified. Most of the time companies prefer to hire more models, so they don't need to worry about making everything work on time, with little to no rotation. The turns were dropped because it's easier to do/to walk for everyone (even with no experience), the running through that runway is easier than having to think what to do too. Most have forgotten that models have to actually show/sell clothes and not just walk like they are on their way somewhere. That's why the market becomes saturated with models as well, because now a lot of girls can do it as opposed to before. For designers, companies, magazines, photographers, it's beneficial, because most models have become very replaceable. Seems like a win-win, if only an art and beauty part of it weren't almost lost.

Just because the girls were thicker and glowed with the more glamorous look, from the gorgeous locks to the over the top 90s makeup doesn't mean they were necessarily healthy. Many of these girls partied hard, and experimented with drugs. Not that it doesn't still go on now, but your comment seems to suggest that girls today are unhealthy because they are thinner and lack personality in the runway, which should not be used as basis of general health.

I was born in 1971. I remember this era completely - Naomi, Claudia, Linda, Kate..... senior year of high school in 1989, (when Guess jeans were cool!) and Versace's models seemed like untouchable goddesses. Here we are in 2022 and this now seems like the approachable girl next door scene.

I remember this era as well, and also with vivid clarity. I'm born in '79 and graduated HS in '97 so my teen/formative years WERE the 1990s. I can remember being SO infatuated with the Supermodels (and if I'm being honest I probably still am). When my March 1994 Vogue arrived, I distinctly recall flipping through it and discovering that two page Versace ad featuring Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Stephanie Seymour, Nadja Auermann, and Claudia Schiffer all wearing metallic pastel miniskirts and angora sweaters with high heels and ankle socks. Probably spent a solid hour just staring at it, looking at each of the models, noticing both the differences and the similarities of their clothes, contemplating what their facial expressions meant, etc. I finally took out the box cutter and with surgical precision, removed both pages and hung the campaign on my bedroom wall where it remained for all of HS and college. Fashion was so huge at that time, it was treated as an artform and experienced a huge rise in public interest, not least of all because of the Supermodels themselves. There was House of Style on MTV and Fashion Television on VH1 and if they were not featured on one of these episodes then they were certainly turning up in music videos. There was always a way to see them. This is such a richly beautiful, unrepeatable period in modern history. And these women just had something special that made it nearly impossible to take your eyes off them 😍

Ooh darling! It's the facials expression, the walk, the way of the hips that let me in awe and mesmerized. THIS needs to be brought back the freedom to express yourself and bringing such life into the pieces. Because each person had a unique way to their walks and expressions. Some used used eyebrow movements to emphasize their expressions, some smized ( skilling with their eyes), flirty looks, or serious stare. I saw one give a full smile, or a combination of these at once. And I felt like it didn't take away light from the pieces but added to it. To add, I felt that depending on the clothing, they changed their aura/energy. So it matched with the piece. like for example something flowy, they gave more sway in their walks or flirty eyes but in the suits, it was more serious, boss like. Now.... It's like moving mannequins....So lifeless. Back then they WORE the fits and added a twist with how they acted while strutting the runway but now a days the fits wear them. Anyhoow I hope everyone has a good day. Tataa, Take Care

This is my comfort video and I have 3 reasons to justify: 1. The clothes. Everything is just absolutely gorgeous and I NEED them. It's an example of eternal fashion and I just love how everyone in the comments feel the same. The pieces are perfect in every single way and I wanna buy them all! They are still able to fit a lot of modern concepts and yet are so much better than a lot of the modern collections. 2. Can we just take a moment to appreciate the old runaway shows? Like 😅 idk if I'm the only one but I really like the old ones because of the model's attitude. They look like they love their clothes and they are acting like they could conquer the world in them. 3. The crowd! I mean, it seemed so interactive and people sound genuinely happy to be there and enjoying the whole experience. Almost as if the fashion show was a music show. That's all. Watching this makes me happy (sometimes I get scared cuz I feel like the models in the back might bump into each other but other than that its an enjoyable experience 😂).

I am wholly convinced that the 1990s are an unrepeatable event in human history. This is a really great example of why I think this. Prior to the late 80s, it was a model's job to sell the product they were hired to promote. High fashion models were supposed to be invisible, to blend into the background and act as de facto hangers for the clothes they were selling. Enter the 1990s. The music industry changed dramatically with the introduction of grunge and ska influences to the masses. Cinema began to evole, CGI was introduced, Blockbuster on a Friday night was a BIG deal, and indie films were suddenly becoming much more serious and attention worthy. Art was being held as an important and viable, valuable creative outlet for many young people to explore and also be taken seriously in new, previously unexplored ways. The role of fashion and fashion models changed as well. Models became celebrities in their own right. The rise of fashion as an artform in a different context gave them the freedom through designers to show actual personality and performance in their shows. The models were allowed to be both characters and themselves while working. Healthy bodies, smiling faces, shining personalities, dazzling performances. This is also seen in the overlap between fashion and other areas of show business during this era (late 80s and 90s) So many supermodels were dating or married to actors or musicians. Rachel Hunter and Rod Stewart Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere Kate Moss and Johnny Depp Stephanie Seymour and Axl Rose Christy Turlington and Edward Norton Elaine Irwin and John Mellencamp Jill Goodacre and Harry Connick Jr. Elizabeth Hurley and Hugh Grant Claudia Schiffer and David Copperfield Christy Brinkley and Billy Joel Karen Elson and Jack White Paulina Poriskova and Ric Ocasek Heidi Klum and Seal Iman and David Bowie (they go back a long time) I'm convinced that the 90s are a luscious time capsule of artistic renaissance and excess but we won't see anything like it ever again. And yes. It was a GLORIOUS time to be alive 😁

Thank you so much for posting the full version of this unforgettable show. Other channels have deleted part of the footage from this one. Well done!!

Do you happen to know the name of the Marilyn Monroe-esq model? She came out second after Claudia.

Thank you so much! I saw her in many shows different shows but couldn't figure out her name.

Dillan Brown lol how on earth can you not know her name but know claudia? ughhh
@crystalevans38686 жыл бұрын
I came across Claudia in a picture with Cindy Crawford, who I knew about because of Naomi Campbell who was my mother's favorite model back in the day. Now why I couldn't figure out Linda is because here and in the shows I saw, she had blond hair, but in nearly all pictures I've seen of her, she had dark hair so I didn't recognize her. I've actually been seeing Linda for YEARS and didn't even realize it lol

models were 10 times prettier in the 90’s. that’s when being a model had some actual prestige
@vegasgirl35383 жыл бұрын
I think it's because back then you had to have presence, "it factor" and beauty to make it in modeling. Nowadays, all you need is a famous parent.
@youtubeacc50073 жыл бұрын
I like the modeling more here. Because now days, they wont take female models that arent underweight or have bigger breasts..
@lolagonvieve73883 жыл бұрын
@@vegasgirl3538 That is partly true but you need to cut the modelling industry Some slack in how much they have improved when choosing models. Back then your face had be a 10/10 in the western world and stick thin. These days your face doesn't have to be completely symmetrical, they are signing more unique and average looking women which is an amazing thing. And also you don't need to be a size 0 anymore
@lyna70383 жыл бұрын
Girls still look exactly like this it is just the makeup that changed I think you like the makeup/hair and over all aesthetic of the models in the 90s better
@erikh10413 жыл бұрын
@@lolagonvieve7388 i wouldn’t say that’s true. seeing curvier models in the 90’s were more common back then. yes you had to be pretty and have good features, but i’d still say being underweight is far more common now, or has been for the last decade or so. the reason agencies have been promoting models who are more like the average person now, is because the agencies have been in hot waters for only casting underweight girls for mulitple years at this point, and eating disorders have been way more common in the last decade of modelling. they’re just trying to save face by casting curvier people now, which i find really sad honestly

Everything about these models are perfect. You literally can't find something bad to say about them. The outfit, the style, the makeup, the vibe, the emotions, their walk, their perfect face and body, literally the only way you can describe it is perfection. They're so gorgeous.

On the outside, and while modeling yes, all good. Back stage or inside... mental health issues, drugs, anorexia/bulimia, and those who shall not be named and are well known for only marrying wealthy old men.
@spritelybird2 жыл бұрын
@@veronicaalmeda8014 At least they are women. The same now but nothing but woke idiots that make everything about themselves and their stupid pronouns and race garbage. In the 90's there was none of that. Everyone was happy and full of joy and ease. Life was a pleasure. This is literally hell. The internet was a blast too.
