A real excellent test. At last: a real very very good player and material for testing. And with a proper capturing of sound and in a relatively dead room. This is a test !!

Sounds great. Do you have any recommendations for bow that goes well with Thomastik-Infeld strings( either this or Dominant Pro version). pls suggest bows that go well with by keeping in mind about adavanced level students as well)
@CristianFatu
@CristianFatu 4 ай бұрын
Maybe look for a Tourte or Pecatte…. find a bow that works well for your hand and technique.

Hard to say because it depends on the violin they’re on and even more so the player… I’d suggest to read descriptions on their website for both and make your own mind. Good luck

Are these that different from Dominants? I'm using them now but want to upgrade to something that has a little more volume. Maybe Rondo's? PI's? I'm not sure where to go after Dominants for a dark sounding violin
@CristianFatu
@CristianFatu Жыл бұрын
Yeah, they’re very different. I’d say they sound dark so you many want to get TI Rondos for your dark sounding fiddle. Might brighten it up

And, are they suitable for, let‘s say, beginners to advanced players, do they benefit from them, or are they struggling over the „dynamics capabilities“ of the strings, considering the lower technical skills using the bow.. (?)
@CristianFatu
@CristianFatu Жыл бұрын
Hi. All very good questions. Yes, I’d say they are suitable for beginners. In fact I think beginners should use the best strings, instruments and bows available to them. Playing violin is hard, you don’t want to make it even harder by using non functional or poor instruments and accessories. Good luck!

Are they higher or lower tension than Dominant Pro?
@CristianFatu
@CristianFatu Жыл бұрын
My understanding is that they are lower tension then the Dom’s Pro. But you can easily figure that out by looking at their website where there is a technical chart with numbers for each set’s tension….
@LordCarmesimXXVII
@LordCarmesimXXVII Жыл бұрын
@@CristianFatu I thought they weren't on the website yet. I've just checked, G and E are 0.1 Kg higher, D and A are the same. So these are also still quite higher tension than the original Dominants.

Because of the price I will hold off until they've been in play for some time to see how durable and long lasting they are. How much better would you say they are than the Larsen Tzigane strings I'm currently using? I've been very happy with them.

Hi Christian, I think the question on everyone’s mind is , from your honest opinion you think they are really worth the money ( twice what one can find Dominants/ good professional strings or 40% above one would pay for strings such as Evahs, PIs, or Cannones)? Are they really a new class of their own that could take up a segment of the high-end market like Evahs did back in their day ? We’ve seen recently Rondo, Perpetuals, Cadenzas, Dominant Pros, all respectable strings but nothing as a class of their own . Are these different? Again thank you for your review.
@CristianFatu
@CristianFatu Жыл бұрын
Hi. I’m only voicing my opinion here based on my concept/taste in sound and instruments. Choosing strings is an exercise in finding the perfect balance between what you like (sound colors, feel under the fingers..etc) and what works best for your particular violin.
@dvides89
@dvides89 Жыл бұрын
@@CristianFatu Yes totally agree in what you mean , it’s not that there’s one string above all. What I mean is for example Passiones or Eudoxas are quite expensive but are very distinct from many other types of strings. Evahs might sound too loud for some people but no one can say they aren’t totally different from Dominants for example. My question is if this strings , in your opinion, are really something quite different that could make a separate category…I hope I’m making sense.
@CristianFatu
@CristianFatu Жыл бұрын
Yes you make sense. For my sound concept, for the violin I used in the review these strings are a separate category if you wish to call it that way. But keep in mind I’m only talking about my particular situation! As the Romans used to say taste is disputable and there’s no perfect string or magic bullet… But in time, trying different strings, expanding and exploring your sound horizons you can find a set that is close to perfection for you.
@dvides89
@dvides89 Жыл бұрын
@@CristianFatu Thank you, really appreciate your reviews and your answer. Would also really appreciate if you can maybe do a follow-up maybe in a few months ( I think you did that for Dominant Pros), to see how the durability worked for you.

A professional violinist that's actually playing with a watch on! I'm not sure I'm sold on the sound quality of these strings. I think you sounded so much better here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGWwpX2gpMp_p9ksi=jIw9yTFsJ0t2Tn4H These are Peter Infeld strings. Of course different violins, but the sound is so much better!
