I played a deep gnome character who believed that the world was just a series of caves and caverns. The "surface" was just the name of a very large cavern, and it had a moving portal to the plane of fire in the ceiling. The stars were just light reflected from the entrances of tunnels leading to other caverns on the ceiling of the "surface" cavern. Anything else was just too unlikely and ridiculous sounding.

Nyaa I had a world setting where each "plane" of existence was held on the back of dreaming Empyrean, stuck in a never ending march towards a huge all consuming entropy demon. Each step would move the planes closer to the end and push forward the seasons. The entire plot being one of the first races had created a weapon to destroy the titans behind them to prevent time from moving forward and allowing them time to find away from certain death. Only for new Empyreans to appear and continue the literal cycle towards them. I wish I had got a chance to finish that campaign of flat earthers!
