Good video. Here is some more advice. For these VWs watch out for 1. Leaks from Water pump and coolant flanges. 2. Replace your oil separator every 2 years (or yearly if you can). These always fail and are the main cause of many of the engine oil leaks mentioned in this video. 3. Use quality synthetic engine oil and change it regularly. Preferably every 7,000 kilometres. You will have less carbonisation snd performance issues. 4. Get a real vw technician to check the condition your timing chain once a year. 5. Be ready for some very annoying failures of electronic components... and they are expensive to replace. 6. Once your car is ok, make sure your really drive and enjoy it to make it "pay" for all the agony above.

My opinion is and I say this because I apply it , I resign I have had Audi cars , but what I do is I buy the car with less than 10 thousand miles certified , never new because you can more money , then the car all the way counts with warranty and apart one more year for certification , All Audi and VW come with 2 free services and one more that the dealership offers you (this is optional) not all offer it, at least in my state several dealerships do, I enjoy them until the end of the warranty and certification which is around 60 thousand miles or 5 years, and after that I change it for a newer one with the same options as the previous one, Why? Because if I would stay longer with them you lose more money in repairs and anyway your car continues to devalue and that money you invested in repairs you will not recover . And you really invest little in maintenance after your three years of free service , Which is an approximate of 800 Dlls for the next 2 years that I have left to change it .... Well that's my strategy , maybe there are other people that many what they do is just rent it for as many years as they want and so they avoid the cost of maintenance and repairs ... greetings .

@@SlowBoiGang which would you deem the easiest to work on? I love being hands on and I always fix everything myself as much as I can. I’d like to do some simple modifications but I’m looking for one that’s the easiest to work on and will get the best gas mileage.
@SlowBoiGang3 жыл бұрын
@@tylercorbiere1713 I've had the 2.0(non turbo), 2.5 5cyl and the 2.0T. All three have been pretty easy to work on so if you had to choose I'd also factor in your goals. Do you want performance or just a car to go from A to B.
@tylercorbiere17133 жыл бұрын
@@SlowBoiGang I’m not really looking for performance. I’d probably put a new intake, bov(if turbocharged), better intake manifold possibly and the rest would mostly just be aesthetics, maybe new exhaust tips and a little bit more aggressive muffler. I’d like features such as sunroof, push start, command start(I could install it), and Apple car play. I’ve always driven a manual but I’ve been considering getting a auto for my daily and building something else as a project. Biggest goal is to remove the thought of “what’s going to go wrong next” as I have a Mercedes c230 06 currently.

@@tylercorbiere1713 you should look for a used Jetta GLI then. Very mod friendly, the 2.0T is great. The sedan is nice over the GTI hatch in my opinion. You can make a solid 300hp and still get great mpgs in a comfortable ride thats good for cruising.

Has anyone had a problem with rough idling when just sitting park? I had my check engine light come and it said I had misfires in cylinder 1,2 and 4. Does this problem sound similar to anyone else’s?
@jonathanstotz1868 Жыл бұрын
My mk6.5 1.8t has rough idle on cold starts, which diminishes in sport mode or after driving for a bit. Pulled code P0441 - EVAP system, incorrect flow detected. Also had misfires like you're saying, and camshaft over-advanced. Fuel trim went up to 32% at some points while revving in park. I don't wanna throw parts and time at it so I'm gonna take it to a shop. Engine power seems fine, pulls well on the freeway but the engine bucks so hard on cold starts.

Does anyone have any idea when you should replace the 2 capsules in the coolant expansion tank? I have asked several experienced VW techs and no one knows 1 what the purpose is and 2 when to replace them or if they are needed. My concern is what happens if they break and leak in to the cooling system clogging heater core or radiator.
@bobd99162 жыл бұрын
Take them out, they serve no purpose

Flushing the coolant every four years and changing the coolant exp tank at the same time is a prudent move. Replacement tanks generally don't come with silica capsules inside...
