FD RX7 Interior Trim and Rear Speaker Install

With all of the FD RX7’s interior trim cleaned, repaired, painted, and protected, it is time to make progress on getting the interior reassembled. In this video I do just that and I also go over a few things to look out for while installing the trim. Before installing the side panels for the rear bins, I also need to go ahead and install the new rear speakers. The factory speakers were shot and disintegrating. I make a significant upgrade by installing a new pair of Kicker KSC 6x8 speakers (link below).

The glue is for speaker insulation of noises. They make specific speaker glue for the brackets so it doesn't rattle when it is on.

My skylines all had glue around the stock speakers, i think it's to stop rattling etc.

The FD rear speakers have the weirdest choice for rear speakers, why 5x8,7s, and not 6x9s? "Dear Mazda It's a rotary so you don't need to go quirkier!!!" Have you taken that rear glass out yet, Often a place for horrible surprises with a less than adequate rear window seal. That rear is looking fantastic after the black paint work.

Not yet, but I know my seal is junk. Luckily I can keep her in the garage. I have a new seal cover trim thing at the very bottom, but I will probably pull the glass when it goes to paint.

Mine are useable but also have a few tears. I plan to replace them. I believe you can still get some from Mazda if you can get ahold of a warehouse that still had them. You might have to order directly from Japan.
