Karens: Why do fire trucks take so long? Also Karens: Don’t get out of the way
@YYCFilmer3 жыл бұрын
Ya can't win with Karens. They're the people to question one thing I.E wondering why emergency crews take so long in general, and they'll be the ones to either A. cut off the Emergency Vehicle to gain an advantage in a massive traffic jam and delay said Emergency vehicle. And/Or B. Fail to yield to the truck and just sit there because in their head they've gto more important things to do than to let a emergency vehicle pass by you to save someones life/help someone.

Where you come from? Where is that? It's probably not in a congested tightly packed city with few places to pull over to and get out of the way. And good luck to any cop running back and forth the road all the way down the path of the fire trucks trying to dole out tickets to any one who just can't get out of the way. Many want to get out of the way, but there's little room and they can't run over the pedestrians to do so, so they are stuck until room is made. This is one of the biggest cities in the world, not some quiet suburban town.

It's less about getting out of the way of emergency vehicles but rather HOW to get out of the way. Idk if it's in the books in Europe or if it's just a thing taught in driving school there, but every emergency response video I see from Western Europe the cars part ways like the Red Sea. Usually the emergency vehicle is able to ride the lines and cars to their left go left, cars to the right go right and there are no issues. It's almost uniform, one video that stood out to me was in Germany, the ambulance pulled up to a line of cars waiting at a stoplight and there was a brief pause, almost like everyone was counting to three and then seamlessly all the cars parted almost uniformly. Of course it helps that cars and emergency vehicles alike are smaller over there, but not to where it's significantly different than in the US.

bann taxi (70%) and take the bus
@themikeymikechannel29477 жыл бұрын
justpulse , SOME taxi drivers are secret terri assistances/ Born or not have self respect for fire and police vehicles trying to get somewhere. when drivers dont move out of the way fast enough they should go right to prison for life!!!!!!! they should be charged with *assist with a death/terri attack* if death happens? 9/11 will never happen as long as we have respectful drivers on all the roads in the USA!!!!!!!!!

I have to ask, I live in Sweden and we don't have these complete gridlocks when it come to traffic so rescue vehicles can get through pretty easily anywhere. I do want to know in a city like New York how do they deal with the traffic? Especially around Manhattan? I mean for a rescue vehicle to be able to reach anyone within 5 minutes it feels like there would need to be a firehouse like 1000 feet of every single location on Manhattan.
@Rainman147 жыл бұрын
+King Wacky there's a firehouse about every 15 blocks in NYC
@kingwacky1847 жыл бұрын
ok so that means one is no more than 7,5 blocks away from a firehouse at any given time. How many feet is one block? Give or take?
@Rainman147 жыл бұрын
+King Wacky not really sure, maybe 150-200 ft I think?

the FDNY calls them MERV, short for Major Emergency Response Vehicle. You can find those in Germany as well, in many large cities the FD operates one or two Large Capacity Ambulanse Buses, in German called GRTW (Großraumrettungswagen). Until now I filmed two of them on a real emergency call and another one during a MCI drill. I was surprised that I didn't see any of the MERV during hurricane Sandy ...
@Rainman147 жыл бұрын
+EnjoyFirefighting - International Emergency Response Videos it would be tough for the MERV to respond during hurricane sandy cause the emergencies were spread out, though it probably should have responded to the Hospital effected during the blackout
@EnjoyFirefighting7 жыл бұрын
Exactly, but somehow they didn't show up on those scenes.

People, lights & sirens don't mean just keep driving until it's convenient for you to move over. As soon as you see an emergency vehicle approaching (not once he's right behind you), you're supposed to get over and out of the way as quickly as possible, as in right now - the first possible hole your vehicle can squeeze into without delaying that emergency vehicle.

If the fire apparatus are smaller then they can drive between the tracks. But they love the very big trucks! It is no wonder why they stay so often. It can helps if the traffic lights goes green in the direction. ;-)
