Hats off to these Game Wardens. It’s a tough, thankless job at low pay. One of the problems with hunting in Montana is, it is really complicated knowing where you can hunt, locating boundaries, knowing what you can shoot, and what days you can do it. Some of the lawbreakers are intentional poachers. Others are just people who don’t know what the laws are and also don’t attempt to find out. Both suffer the consequences.

We have land at the very end of a dead end road where it's prime whitetail and grouse hunting.. Our family had decades old history with it as my grandfather and father grew up on that land since the 1920s, by the mid 1960s, our family moved out and used the land just for hunting once or twice a year with maybe a one day summer visit. It wasn't outsiders constantly trespassing it was locals who knew the family at one time or another.. Since we were at the dead end of the road we get unwanted items like appliances, junk cars, and even someone dragged a concrete stairs just barely off the road, my dad knew whom it was because he dated the girl that lived there. By the 1980s, we moved 30 minutes nearby and came into constant contact with tresspassers, mostly hunting; saying they had permission from owner even though they were talking to owner; the most unique story is a former high school buddy of my father pretending he didn't know whom my father was even though he called him by his nickname that no one else mentioned.. People get weird when they get caught thinking they have some special privilege thinking you are long gone...
@terryrussel5239 ай бұрын
Had some friends out west. Ranchers raising horses, cattle. Raising and training, hunting, herding and rescue dogs. They got plenty of practice tracking trespassing hunters by helping a family friend who was a game warden . . . But the night they found people stealing their beef cows, well, those big trailers and trucks didn't leave with the men who drove them in, and the local constabulary had a busy time with paperwork and prisoners because the rustlers couldn't get far enough, fast enough on their motorbikes. Thanks to the community the entire region had their pictures, names and addresses via the (no, not the internet) good old-fashioned grapevine in record time. CB Radio and land lines still ROCK !

3 times in the past 5 years I have had a different neighbor call and report that someone is hunting on private property that they know the owner and the owner does not allow hunting. But none of the 3 people have my number or have ever talked to me. In the end, One lady said that she had heard that the owner didnt allow anyone to hunt and there were lots of signs saying keep out, but she saw someone on the land. That was me, the owner. Ha. Another lady when told the owner did not know her and never spoke to her, got all upset because she said she saw me out in one of my fields that is within 100 yards of her house and that I had a gun and her kids often use that field for playing baseball. The warden gave her a trespass warning for me. Now her kids can play in their backyard. LOL.. The 3rd was a guy who just opened up a outfitters business, and was mad because I removed 3 of his cell cameras that were between 5 and 30 yards on my side, watching deer on my property, even after I had gave his cameras back to him. Then I found 2 ladder stands and I kept them, after the warden told me I could, because the guy denide they were his. He just doesnt like me, because he bought the area, thinking he could get permission to hunt this 380 acre farm, because, My renter whois on a 10 acre separate parcel told him, they didnt care if he hunted anytime he wanted, so he bought the property thinking the renter was me. Now he is surounded on 3 sides, with no woods or pine forest, or water source. LMAO
