went from my 2ft quarantine mini to a 3ft concrete mini. back foot slipped out while I was sitting on a bs pivot and knee went into the flat. That's conquered my fear of wearing pads at the park.

Yeah for sure, 1 ft at a time is a good strategy I recon! concrete is another step up in terms of fear for me !!

Good vid ... yeah man it’s all about learning on something small then taking it to the next level. Back in the 80’s everything was big so it was really a leap of faith haha!🤣
@JonBishopSkate4 жыл бұрын
Wicked, yeah everything around my area has been just a touch too steep and big to learn on? I built my mini ramp for progression and it’s really helped. Now the mission is to transfer the tricks I have across to the local spots, it’s quite long winded, but I think it’d be fair to say I would never have learned the F/S axle on that 5ft from scratch, I’m just not skilled or brave enough!!!

Man, you explain things beautifully! I’m 30 years old and recently started skating again (I was 10 the last time I was on the board) and loving every second of it! Your videos are so helpful and this is getting me stoked to try a more exaggerated rock to fakie tomorrow as I’m only just getting the front trucks over the coping on the 5ft at the moment, thanks dude! 🤙🏼

Yeah dude!! That’s ace, yeah believe it or not it’s safer to go further, just puts a bit more mechanics into clearing the front wheels!! Go for it !

Great video again. I do love how your videos are so developmental. ‘This is how I made it work’ rather than ‘I’m brilliant at this but I’ll try to remember what it was like to be crap in order to make a video’. Great point at the end about how different it is on a different transition. I’ve been hitting rock fakies on my 2ft at home, trying the 3ft and 4ft at the park yesterday was TOTALLY different.
@JonBishopSkate3 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, Many thanks for tuning in and for the kind words. Yeah, I seem to find any new ramp takes some getting use to? It’s probably just a confidence thing. But on my local spots I have the certain tricks I know you can do, and anything else takes some time and work to adapt ?!! Might just be me, but great to hear I’m not alone 😂
@shaundavies3143 жыл бұрын
Sadly it’s probably an age and sensibility thing. Rubber kids just throw themselves at it and it’ll work... I start thinking about the difference in physics and talk myself out of it 🤣😂🤣 I really need to cane my qtr more often and take it to the park regularly.

Hope to see you at duck soon!!

@JonBishopSkate3 жыл бұрын
Hey dude! I wear ankle protection from time to time, depending on what I’m up to. I wear the Vans half cab which provides a little bit of support also? The nitty gritty is in this video. @JonBishopSkate Жыл бұрын
Hey dude Many thanks for the kind words. I made a video talking through all of the setups. You may wish to skip to 10.50 which is the Anderson setup walkthrough. It’s sounds like it’s the bowl version you are after, Indy 159 hollow trucks, Bones big ball bearings, grizzly grip, bones medium bushings, OJ team rider 61mm wheels. @JonBishopSkate4 жыл бұрын
Hey Dude, I really like it, it’s a big board, but I’m quite big also so it feels good. The concave is great, but is available in other Powell boards also, the biggest thing that may take some getting use to is the tail I guess, it’s big and square?? They do an 8.45 version, but I ride the 9.14 one AA does.

Hi, great vids, middle aged man learning too. Do you go early to the skate parks, all yours look empty. I ask because I am a bit self conscious because I'm not very good yet. Thanks.
@JonBishopSkate4 жыл бұрын
Hi Glen, yes I go super early as I like to get in a rhythm when attempting new things, it’s also easier to get a clean audio track without others around. I also like not to broadcast others without their consent? Both the pool and 5 ft bowl sessions were started at 4.45am lol
