Always enjoyable. Obviously there is a big difference in trucks. I rode Indys since year dot of my skating. I recently fitted slappy trucks and have to say I am totally converted. Well worth a try mate and they are designed to not change the wheelbase. Hope you try them and look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I'm retired and took a trip visiting all the nice skate parks on Atlantic and Gulf side of FL last winter with my SurfSkate. I soon learned as you have mentioned that dropping in is an issue to get into bowls. So I was in search of the parks that had bowls designed to include a roll-in to enter - for us surfskaters! It's my hope that as new bowls are designed - they include a roll-in entry feature for their bowls. I did find some in FL with that feature and did enjoy learning the bowl.

I have no problem dropping in on my Carver in 8-10' bowls. Learning to drop is important if you want to bowl ride. I would not recomend the C7's for any skatepark skating. Go with the CX's or C5's for park skating. Also tighten up your front truck if you are using the C7's. Otherwise you have way to much wobble. Loosen them up as get better. You do not need to be jiggly loose. I get the best performance somewhere in the middle. Once you learn to drop in you can skate anywhere.

YOU SHOULD TRY WITH A REGULAR SKATEBOARD TRUCK IN THE REAR AND C5 IN THE FRONT.. THE TURN IS MUCH BETTER

C5 rear truck (stamped C4) has an angled pivot which makes it all dive and not much turn.

I cant' believe surf skating is even a thing? It's been my natural style for getting around town for 40+ years. In my world it's pretty much just skating without the trick's. I recently bought a Carver Surfrider which is considered a mini? It's about the size of a 77 Alva, same basic shape, but with a turned up nose and contours on the deck. Since I'm not doing many tricks these days it is my go to board for anything. I hesitated buying one at first because I skate like that on any set up. But I like how it has a snappy sidewalk surfer feel. I went with the small C5's and people are absolutely amazed at it's performance...the board is only part of it. Most of it is the rider. Within a day I was up to speed and showing people how easy it is. It's just skating without the tricks. Some people like them loose, but I recommend somewhere in the middle for maximum control. I also surf...remember this might resemble surfing but surfing it is not. For me It's the kid in me pretending that I am. Don't overthink it. Find a board shape you like, and learn how to skate it. Like any board.
