Been living and working +15 years in se-asia mainly Bangkok and did self "retire" early in Philippines at 52, i always rented condos so i have the freedom to move and relocate and do keep my lifestyle to minimum with buying unnecessary stuff and things. Things docent make u HAPPY in life..and its easier to relocate and move and experience new things and places with only 2 big suitcases than a home full of old stuff u really dont care about. Only real things i ever really bought over the years was a couple of 2nd hand scooters that i drive to they are dead and give away as a trade in.

I think renting a house is the best especially if you want to transfer to diffferent places of your choice. Your house is beautiful and the place is beautiful too. So enjoy everyone.

Foreigners can own a home and titled in their name. The land is a different issue as we can't purchase it in our name. Forming a LLC or putting the land in a trusted partner and then leasing it for 25 years with another 25 year option is standard practice for most expats. Having a special power of attorney as well will give you more options of what you can do with the property. For many who have decided to spend the rest of their lives here it makes good business sense to purchase property compared to renting for an extended period especially in the Dumaguete area. Land prices around Dumaguete have doubled since 2020 in several areas. As more and more expats arrive on Southern Negros prices for rent and properties will continue to rise. Also many like to leave something for their partner when they are gone. No right or wrong everyone has their own journey and I hope we all can find the retired life we worked for so many years here in the Philippines. Thanks for sharing and be blessed.

Yes, the key is to SAVE MONEY and wait to see what happens on Nov.6th. I visited the Philippines 25 years ago and it did not thrill me. I was very busy work on our house in Malaysia and and now it is better than new. All our assets are paid for and now I am back in Mexico across in Tecate getting some things done here and San Diego. 60% of Americans do not have 1000 saved. Many conflicts going on around the world. I will send you some of the things we did in Malaysia.

Hi Dennis, you guys still like Tecate Mexico? I'd like to get picts and your take on Mexico living...John
@dennisgonya45007 ай бұрын
@@TurquoiseSunsets Hi John and family. My wife does not live here and I would not want her too. Tecate is a small border town about 20 or so miles east of TJ. I have been associated with this part of Mexico for over 40 years and Tecate is a town of about 120k and is cold in the winter, hot in the summer and very dirty. One of my son's is married to a Mexican and her uncle is a retired policeman and he told me it is not safe any place in Mexico. There are drug lord wars going on in TJ and here. I fit in as I have lived on and off here for over 40 years. I know how to blend in and chat with the people as I know how. One of my son's was murdered by the cartel here and he had lived here for 30 years and had a Mexican family with 2 sons and a daughter. This is ugly coastal desert land. Rare to see a bus full for tourist here. The exchange rate is around 16 pesos to the dollar and border town have a high cost of living. The president of Mexico has raised the government workers pay almost double for the border area. My youngest son's mother-in law's son was murdered here last year. This son was born in TJ but lives in San Diego. He just sold his house here that he did not live in for 5 or so years. There is only two gates to cross the border and can take up to 2 or more hours. Tecate California is a very, very small town and with a grocery store and not much more. I have been to the Philippines 24 years ago on 2 trips and even met the NPA on both trips. I liked them and bought them cane alcohol. You are far better off there and much cheaper living. I am connected here up the ladder and have nothing to fear. The Mexican National Guard here has taken over the border as I have not seen and other immigration guards for over a year. If one is at the wrong place at the wrong time and not doing anything bad and see something you will be killed. I just have to ask some people and I am given the scoop. I dress down and I am only with other Mexicans. I chat and joke the the police and National Guard. I am 80 and am respected. Homie knows the game. I live in a total different world in Malaysia.

Hi John and family. The drug cartels are causing big problems for the U.S. government and it is going to get worse thanks to the people who voted for Biden. Go listen to Victor David Hanson. The U.S. is in big trouble Ray of the FBI has said so. Stay put and you will be great. I have do much resurch. Obama has put much of what is going on in motion. Idiots will still vote for Biden. @@TurquoiseSunsets John you do not want to know what I know that is going on in the U.S. Stay put and go and listen to some of the older stuff on Victor David Hanson's channel. So, so much going on and it is becoming exposed on what some people in power are doing. EX.Linkedin founder Reid Hoffman funded Trump's rape accuser and so did the co-founder. Google and you will see how much he loves Crooked Hillary and the Clinton Mafia. I spend hours each day digging to understand who is driving the country to a Socialist/Marxist Liberal country. Big money in high places and it runs deep. Google this and see what Hoffman is doing and all the dumbed down professionals on Linkedin. A lot of politics related. For many years now the universities in American have been pushing Socialism down the trout of the students. STAY WHERE YOU ARE AND YOU WILL BE SAFE. Agree with your reasons for renting: if things or neighbors go bad, you are stuck if you own. Renting you can decide you want - mountains or beachfront or Cebu high-rise condo as you wish. FOMO... Seems you are missing out by not soaking at Red Rock occasionally. From your last video of health/diet: consider adding daily avocado and raw cacao.

Hi Kim, Yes we love the Haas avocados from Mexico but the one's here in the RP aren't nearly as good. But for nutritional values I love them and will get them again here. I remember how much you love those Red Rock Springs...so I'll put it on my 2do list. Hope all is well with the family. 💕💕

I’ve studied this for yrs now. Come to the conclusion why buy. It’s so cheap to rent. And I can still leave my wife in good standing financially. And if I’m gone she can buy are rent what ever she chooses.
@stephenr21957 ай бұрын
It is definitely cheaper to rent, but we bought. First both of us grew up in the US and we've been married for 35 years so it's not the same dynamic as many expats. This way we get to design the house we want, do the upgrades we want, facing the direction we want in the neighborhood we want and never have to worry about a landlord saying he's going to sell or rent to someone else.

We bought 11,000 sqm ocean land on Camotes, paid, 475sqm, now worth 4,000 sqm, to 8,000 sqm,, bought in 2018, very easy to subdivide, taxes, $20 usa a year, caretaker, $80 per month, small carry cost for the good return foreigners can own about 2000 sqm in provience, about 200 sqm in city, check with good lawyer, you own joint with Filipina, she dies, foreigner spouse has full legal rights to dispose. Will we build? Probably not, we rent and go back to USA every six months, and to hard to secure buildings with owner absent even though we fully fenced. But raw land, better then money in the bank Stay safe

Good luck to you, it's a free world and each to their own we say. But I will reiterate there is a lot of greed here which clouds the thinking of investors. You never know what your property is really worth until you try to sell it. Your land purchase is probably not worth P4,000 per sq meter now as you boast. Thanks for your comment.

Thanks for your comment and regarding Dayton, we couldn't wait to get out of there. Our Dayton neighbors were real low life's and some even dangerous people. A lot of the homes turned into rentals with scary, disrespectful angry tenants and we disliked living in Dayton on many levels. One of our neighbors stored literally 50 vehicles on his property which looked like hell. The front yard and back yard were both jammed with vehicle which looked horrible, violated CCR'S and county ordinances. Also many degenerates and drug addicts. The sheriffs dept was useless and lawless themselves which made law and order impossible. Lots of cronyism too. Our home was beautiful but that situation was the final trigger that drove us outta the USA and starting our YT channel. Yes there are a few good people there but mostly those hid in their homes never coming out.. Dayton and Silver Springs are notorious for meth addicts and other criminal degenerates. Thanks for your comment Webster. John
