Whether you like coach jb or not, he was literally breaking down football and explaining play design and how that has led to Mahomes success under Reid. Like coach said, no one is saying Mahomes is not very good and does not have potential to be top 3, but we just have to slow it down. Coach said what I’m always telling people, kelce runs option routes all the time on linebackers and safeties and he is literally un guardable and that has led to much of the teams success. You look at his two late red zone td passes in the Super Bowl, that’s play design not Mahomes. Say what you want the coach was breaking the chiefs offense down from a coach/scout perspective. And what he said about rodgers ex receiver was spot on. Whitlock did what he always does when challenged and has no where to go. Runs and goes into billy badass tough guy bully mode. Just like when Michael malice pointed out to his face on election night that he does not like facts and Whitlock left the stage and instead of pulling malice to the side and talking to him he came back on camera and said I had to step away and calm down cause if I did not bad things would happen. And then yesterday does the same. Cuts the feed on a grown man who is presenting facts and data and cause Whitlock literally has no rebuttal also ends the show and says my mind is not in the right spot. That’s the feminine energy he always talks about and he does it all the time. I believe this show is unwatchable and is really a comedic free fall but at least coach jb and Steve kim do their best to save it and bring actual logic into discussions.

That conversation reminded me of conversations I used to have with people about marcus mariotta his heisman season at oregon. I would hear people saying he is great and gets a lot of passing yards and tds and that he should be the first or second pick in the draft. I would literally ask people are you really watching these games or just looking at the stat lines and sports center highlights? I would point out this guy is a system qb. That uptempo offense was still relatively new to college football and the great running game and play action is leading to these tds. I remember that year they played a good Michigan state team and the safeties kept bitting on the fake handoffs and these receivers are sneaking by them with zero resistance on every td. I remember watching a highlight reel that year and on almost every td pass there is never an opposing defender in the vicinity. It’s guys just biting on fakes and tripping over their feet and there are no defenders ten yards near the receiver. When mariotta got to the title game and went against nfl caliber dbs who did not bite on fakes mariotta had nowhere to go and could not make any throws to guys that were semi covered. And he still went 2 in the draft and you see the same with him now with tennessee, the raiders, and falcons. I used to tell guys you need to really look at the scheme and play design and not just look at the highlights to determine if someone is a top guy. Not saying mariotta or someone like him is not good but you have to look deeper. Seems to me that’s all jb was doing and he got the same pushback I got on mariotta.

I don't agree with coach JB's last point, and suspect this is why Jason hung up on him. He says Mahomes can't make anticipatory throws. I'm not sure that term was used the correct way, but I know what he means. Mahomes has made several throws this way, it's a staple of the WCO. I'm not expert, but this has been pointed out by analysts during games. He throws the ball to a area, anticipating were the receiver will be. One his point about Aarron Rodaers wirh MVS. Rodgers best statical season with MVS was 33 catches, 690 yars, and 6 TD's. With Mahomes it was 42 catches, 687 yars, and 2 TD's. The TD's are the only difference and this if after playing with Rodgers for three seasons mind you. All the other sessions were worse statically.

Mahomes’s “unorthodox” throws are overrated. He’s a good QB, but I don’t even think he was the best QB on the field in the Super Bowl. Hurts made much tougher throws and actually pushed the ball down the field more. I don’t think the offense is completely gimmicky, they definitely do some gimmicky stuff. Particularly in the redzone and that lateral play they tried in the playoffs the past year was almost devastating for them. Then they tried another shovel type pass a few plays later on the same drive. I think if he continues at the pace he’s started at for his entire career that it’ll be hard to say he isn’t one of the all time greats, but that’s yet to happen. Disagree. We said it's difficult to tell what's real at TT because the system is designed for the QB to literally throw 68 passes a game. So we couldn't just stat watch and rely on the numbers. There are many TT QBs that put up absurd numbers. Why didn't they stick? Or better yet, why didn't Andy Reid or his GM take any of those QBs in the first round? Did Reid just discover TT and the air raid in 2017?
