Theory: They're quarantined against something, some sort of disease. They're the survivors of a plague or some widespread disease and that's where they're staying. The plastic is some sort of clothing that protects them (or acts as a trash bag in case they die in quarantine) The figures on the walls are the people who survived but in a terrible half life half dead state, zombies or plague monsters. Cody is drawn to the walls because his lover is there calling his name, begging him to come sav her. (note the way Dan flips the items at the climax, as if frustrated or angry with Cody) Cody lets her in at the end of the video and she is not who he thinks she was, and he's now endangered the only survivors (this is my take, but hey, it's a good video!) Edit: The lack of resources, the cramped space could also indicate this shelter was built in a hurry, as though the boys were on the move - they could be heading to an Eden of sorts. The barrel fire Max uses is their only source of heat. So this can be seen either as a rapid zombie apocalypse setting or (more likely) moreso a post-apocalyptic setting where the survivors either are uninfected or are infected and live a sick half dead half living state, because it's clear they're running from something and Cody is in emotional pain, having lost the love of his life. The shock at the end on his face indicates he realizes he's made a mistake and it's over for him and the group - they could only outrun the devil for so long. Edit EDIT: I keep going over the video for more evidence, but definitely something interesting to note at 3:15, this is a split second shot, Cody is being strangled/suffocated by a woman with red streaks under her eyes - could this be the so called devil? Or the lover Cody thought it was, but now she suffocates him with the plastic that was protecting him from her - a sick role reversal and he is now paying for his dancing with the devil and letting her in. edit: FOR THE LOVE OF FUCK I DIDN'T MEAN TO PREDICT CORONAVIRUS YA'LL 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

LATE AS HELL BUT VERY WORTH SAYING: in response to your edit edit, thank you for drawing attend to the darker circle under her eyes because in a sense this seems to connect this video to another - Lonely Dance. Sure you could say how is a zombie like post apocalypse on Earth tied to the events of a psychotic break and alien infection somewhere in space. This is out there, but here me out on this. What if, Lonely Dance wasn't happening in space. What if the 'blue alien' we see in that isn't an alien at all, but someone in the much much later stages of infection? Take the Resident Evil games for example, there are several strains of the virus, but many lead to severe mutation the longer infection persists. If there was indeed an outbreak where the dead rose and began to mutate, specially designed hazmat suits built to withstand exposure and monitor vitals would be a huge necessity, as well as a fortified bunker to hide out to survive, somewhere that could monitor any point of breach. Not a space ship, a bunker. Now look at all the videos for this album: Killer in the Mirror: a bunch of guys get drowned in a pool only to come back from the dead and take their revenge in what could be seen as a cruel and psychotic manner. Their complexion has a not so subtle blue tint to it. Dancing with the Devil: A handful of guys are held up in a poorly constructed shelter, possibly facing minor but not life threatening infection given their bluish complexion, while a woman begs to gain entrance from outside. Her movements are slightly unusual and given the opportunity she takes violent action against the guy trying to help her. The lighting gives it a more purple hue, but her lower eyelids are coated in blue and her skin is off color. Lonely Dance: A handful of lucky individuals count themselves lucky after the success of a ten year mission (perhaps in research of the virus) when a security breach occurs. One of their own is attacked by a severely infected individual, slowly slipping into psychosis as the mutation spreads at a shockingly fast rate. There are no survivors. This is a singular story told by multiple points of view at multiple points in time. *Stage one:* The Dead Rise with a slightly bluish hue and most of their living consciousness intact, but they're still driven by sudden fits of insanity. *Stage Two:* The blue infection begins to spread, affecting their mental capacities outside of manipulation and psychosis. As their mental capacity deteriorates, the eyes begin to well up with this blue liquid, staining the under eyelids. *Stage 3:* Severe mutation. Nearly all sanity is lost except for a primal instinct to spread the infection through murder. Cells begin to reproduce in a cancerous state, producing tumor-like blue growths. Subject becomes extremely violent, going so far as to bite others to spread the virus. *BLUE ZOMBIES.*

when i was interpreted songs for my psych class this one was one of them. even after listening to it over and over I never got the meaning. my boyfriend said it most likely had to do with getting out of an abusive relationship. He succeeds, but the alien betrays him and infects Cody, which eventually kills him, and he and the band are now in a place that would equate to Hell/Purgatory. And Cody, still not learning his lesson, fools around with (or was tempted to do so by) the "Devil." I know I'm looking way too into this but I don't care. 😂

I don't know if I'm going crazy but I swear it looks like Cody has a giant scar across his throat throughout this whole video, almost as if he had his throat slit or was hung or something. Maybe I was just looking too hard for some deeper level there but even if it wasn't that was a crazy good video :) Also on another note the coloring of this video is mad aesthetic. I may not know too much about cinematographic color schemes, but from what I do know the depth that the blue/purple theme adds really does add so much depth to the emotions of alienation and other-worldliness. Also to have the main color being blue rather than red for the idea of hell of the devil makes the song so much more, and adds a lot more depth than might have been there otherwise. Mad props to the whole team who put together this music video I'm lowkey in love. (Sorry for the long winded comment this stuff is just so incredible)
