You are probably right. The blind art dealer specifically wanted to win the auction. Now whether he rigged the game or did he invest everything he had to win it can be debated upon, but yeah, in the end, Chris' vision as a photographer with a successful art dealer with his own gallery may have been a sweet deal for him. What was so good was Rose's whole performance during it. The disapproving looks to her relatives and knowing she's in on it the whole time. I began to wonder if they were looks of "you're pushing it too far" or she was so into the role of the doting girlfriend. A brilliant example of this is when she refuses to let Chris hand over his ID to the cop. In the beginning she wants to appear as the protective girlfriend but if you think about it she's making sure it's so Chris can't be found when he gets snatched.

I appreciate the concept of the blind guy being sort of a red herring now. I see it now that this is Peele's twist and flip to those white saviour stereotypes that movie people has been exposed to for years, in which we subconciously got trained to seek those in certain types of characters from any movies we watch.
@beccahawkins19056 жыл бұрын
CheesecakeLasagna I think Jordan Peele deliberately made the blind man play that role because he served as a brilliant critique of “colorblindness.” He’s literally blind, so he can’t see Chris’s skin color, but he is willingly participating in colonizing Chris’s body nonetheless, so he isn’t off the hook.

To make Rose look different than everyone else at the party she wore casual clothes with a striped white&red t-shirt and black jeans, while everyone else was dressed in black. In the badminton scene you can see Jeremy(Rose’s brother) is wearing a red tie. The white people begin to walk over, and you can see some are wearing red. This gives away that Rose was always apart of it and her brother as well. She’s wearing red and black, but is casual showing how she was subtle and casual in reeling Chris in for taking. Obviously it’s subjective, but I disagree. They change the tone of the movie! Cheap jumpscares and the over-tuned foreshadowing destroys the suspense made by it. Sure the skeleton deer is scary at first, but we know you can’t be harmed in the sunken place, therefore, the deer presents no threat. And the badminton scene just gives away that something is up. We can tell the people there are quite racist, whether they mean it or not, but they aren’t weird until he goes upstairs. I think they were well left out. Zoingo I can reproduce myself without being with a black man. Same with the black man. The kids take Africa features whether hair, skin colour, lips, nose, or all the above. You can get all the colours from black but none from the any other colour but it’s own. Black is beautiful because it’s dark. It’s useful as the melanin helps us age slower most of the time, we don’t burn as easily. Black represents sophistication.

The deleted scenes are ample proof how great the editing of the film is. 'Get Out', according to me, is a landmark film... and that has been achieved by the remarkable job done by the entire cast and crew... but, above all else, it's a stupendous feat for the writer-director whose vision it has been all through.
@merlinho0t Жыл бұрын
I think the only scene I’m sad didn’t stay in the film was the scene with the deer skeleton in the sunken place. That was actually really well done and creepy, and I believe it was in some of the trailers.

The whole scene was stupid, taking out of his pocket the lighter while he was in a state of hypnosis would ruin the whole purpose of the sunken place. It's like if he had a cellphone in his pocket and took it out to call for help.

I'm glad they cut out all these scenes. In the original movie, the questions the white people give are just racist and awkward, the one with the black is in fashion just went on for so long so I am glad they cut that. The badminton there is no point, they got their point across without it and also shows a bit that they are hear to watch Cris while without that you dont know what's going on. One of the things that made Get Out great is the lack of non jumpscares and just the psychological horror. Adding the whole monster in the sunken place ruins the experience. Maybe instead make it he has to live the rest of his life in fear of the memories of his mother or something

I liked the choice to remove the parts where Rose is defending him when he isn't there. It wouldn't make any sense for her to do it considering everything is a front for Chris on their behalf. When Georgina tampered with his phone and was explaining herself, the tear she let out was the part of her that lived on and was trapped inside. When Chris was upstairs and everyone stayed silent. It could represent how white people view black people as they literally "level up higher" in the world. And, when Chris was in complete darkness and only had a cigarette light. It could represent how alone and literally "in the dark" he felt and he only had his light to guide him. Chris could also be the only person wearing blue as he felt as if he was the "elephant in the room". And, elephants are often symbolised as being "blue" in cartoons etc.
