After watching the movie a second time sooo many things make sense now. 1) when they were at the beach with their children and the woman asked Adelaide what was wrong and she said she just has a hard time talking. 2)when the son went to use the bathroom and saw the man standing up with his arms stretched out to the side and blood dripping down his fingers. I figure that he killed his tether (the one they saw in the ambulance on their way to the beach), now he stands and stretches out his hands waiting for the others to join hands with him.

I like to think that when Red kidnapped Jason, she told him the truth: how Adelaide kidnapped her years ago, left her underground, and took her place above ground. But, and here's the kicker: she does not urge him to side with her, or turn against his mother (because like it or not, Adelaide gave birth to him, he's her son, even though she's "fake"). And in the end, even though Jason knows the truth, he does not outright reject Adelaide, and how could he? He connected with his doppleganger the most, and Pluto was the most interested in studying his double. And ultimately, even as an imposter, Adelaide was a fighter: she escaped from hell, built a family, and killed to keep it intact. Red also escaped, but despite having arguably stronger motivation, lost. So who would you expect Jason to side with? The "true" version of his mother that is a total stranger, threatened his family, and is now dead? Or the "false" version he's known all his life, has killed to keep him safe, and is alive? There's really not much choice. Putting that mask on a final time is a sign of acceptance, and homage to his dead "brother". And Adelaide would surely appreciate that, she could not bring herself to kill either of Red's kids. For a moment, I entertained the idea that maybe Pluto didn't actually die, and that Red kidnapped Jason to switch the boys off-screen. But I like the idea that Jason simply understands his mother better by the end, and accepts her, monster and all. If you think about how quickly the family was able to recover and fight back, some of that has to come from Adelaide, particularly how Zora goes from not knowing or caring where her brother is to beating anything that moves with a golf club to protect him. She sure didn't get that from her dad. And in a world where the Tethered are now above ground, the family is going to be fighting a lot. Best to have the mom that actually wins life and death battles on their side, in that case.

The part when Red says “ if it weren’t for you I probably never would have danced “ made sense later because after the switching incident the therapist suggested dance to “ help her find her voice “. Also notice how Red seemed to be the better more graceful ballerina. She was always tip toeing around and during the fight scene Adelaide just couldn’t quite get her hands on Red as she kept dancing circles around her. Adelaide said she stopped dancing because she “ burned out at 14 “ but Red was prancing around like a ballerina still up until her last moments. Wow! I have to watch it again.

There's one thing I don't get here. Red was de "real" and Adelaide the "fake". The fake ones usually imitated the actions of their "real" counterpats in the outside world... She was a real human she felt that pain for real while she probably was surrounded by thedered beings who had no consciousness and were controled by the ones from the above. She was all alone in that situation. Maybe she started to teach them by then but still I think they were still in that controlling state as it took a while untill they were ready to go up. She had to have interractions daily with those beings. That explains how she gradually began to act be like them.

Theres a theory that the son Jason, was switched just like his Mom last summer. It explains why his actions are alittle off. The girls calling him weird at the beach, him digging a tunnel in the sand, him not remembering how to do the magic trick, using language his parents have never heard him use before. Jason ( who’s Pluto now ) must’ve did the actual trick before the switch and his tethered been trying to do the trick ever since and never could Which is why Jason doesn’t know how the trick works ... he doesnt even know what it does The whole movie the family is seeing a new Jason all of a sudden that doesn’t know anything Doesn’t know how the magic trick works .. Doesn’t know where the bat is .. doesn’t know how to get out the closet .. Everyone is shocked at his language now .. Mom and son can’t snap on rhythm to the original i got 5 on it ( remember the tethered lacked soul underground ) Then remember Pluto snaps on beat while hes backing into the fire - while the movie version of ‘ I got 5 ‘ on it plays The movie version of i got 5 on it plays only during sons car fire scene and mom ballerina scene .

The reason why Pluto has the burnt faces because Jason was using a magic lighter which would never ignite but Pluto was using a real one causing him to burn his face
@Teddie9125 жыл бұрын
worthy4u you have to watch again. There never was a magic trick - he just couldn’t light a lighter cause he’s too slow . That’s the purpose of the snapping car scene. If tethered have no soul - how is Pluto snapping to the beat on the car fire scene ? How is Red and Pluto both able to do things they aren’t supposed to do ? They proved they have rhythm. That’s the whole purpose of the ballerina scene. While Ad was messing up her performance above ground - Red was slaying it down below that the tethered seen her as a God/Leader of the pack. Why Red and Pluto have their voices taken away from them ? We know normal tethered can’t speak English so why voices taken away Like done on purpose? Why is Red and Pluto sitting down like little kids during the living room scene ? She’s sitting Indian style - he’s sitting like a pet .. they have the mind of Kids - she even starts off her story with “ once upon a time “ Why do Red and Pluto get 1 on 1 talks/alone time with their counterparts INSIDE ? While Dad and Daughter counterparts are sent OUTSIDE to kill. Pluto and Jason even have their damn closet scene with Pluto showing him how to do it lol he’s just too slow to grasp it . How is Red and Pluto literally a beat AHEAD of their counterparts when it’s supposed to be the other way around lol ?? Daddy touches his glasses - tethered dad goes to touch his. Sister peaks thru car window n walk - tethered daughter then does the same . And so on ...
@Teddie9125 жыл бұрын

A few things I’ve noticed: -The ending gave clues about the mother; when she went back into the boardwalk exhibit, she knew about the downstairs and exactly how to get there, which is where the Tethered lived. How did she know it was there? -After she kills Red, notice there’s only one rabbit in the room, representing there’s now only one of her. -The scissors themselves are in the shape of two heads back to back, connected together. Representing themselves and their clones as one. -The MJ shirt at the beginning said a lot; it showed the year the movie takes place in and is an allusion to the tethered (Ex: the end of the Thriller video where Michael is still a ‘wolf’. Sort of like his good and bad living in ‘one’ body). -The man with the 11:11 on his sign was in the ambulance, dead. His Tethered was the man on the beach, meaning this was the first instance of the Tethered rising

Adelaide looked at them all as her family if you noticed. She was pleading with Pluto to not walk into the fire, she went to check on the daughter in the tree and tried to comfort her. She didn't want to kill Red but felt she had no choice. It's all very sad. What a phenomenal movie. Full of Gnostic symbolism and even the characters names are important. The clone of Jason, Pluto, is burnt from Jason playing with fire. I felt awful for the clones. What a twist.

The trade constantly messes with me. Can you imagine being the real Adelaide, suddenly stuck in this underground hell hole knowing there's a better world up there? At least the other Tethered didn't really know much about the world until she told them. It’s also worth noting, because no one else seemed to have pointed out, that rabbits are a common theme throughout the movie. What’s interesting though, is that rabbit is a symbolism for rebirth (e.g., Easter bunny to celebrate Jesus resurrection). The whole movie is about the tethered resurrecting from the underground into reality, which is represented through rabbits. The daughter is also seen wearing a shirt with a picture of a rabbit on it as well as a shirt that says “thỏ”, which is Vietnamese for rabbit. Finally, the ending scene shows them leaving with the son carrying the rabbit, which seems to indicate that they’re trying to start a new life.

I am more curious how she lost her voice and it got fucked up? Is it because she was choked as a young child before being switched? Is it because she was underground for like years and years? And when you finally do come out, its like...what do you even do? You never grew up properly, everyone you knew is old now or dead.
