💈I have been using it for my customer 's shaving more than 40 years. I can prove how great shave I did for a long time and there's a reason that professional like me rely on this tried and true tool. I think amateur people need to practice with it sometime but once you get to used to it, your shaving will be comfortable for always✌️💈

Really nice demonstration Geo! I love using this razor! It has a bit of a learning curve but once you've mastered it, it's an absolute joy to use. There's nothing like that pass from under the neck, over the jowl and along the cheek. This particular razor is an engineering marvel. And the sharpness of these blades (Pros or Supers) exceeds what I can get on my straight razors...that just means you have to be extra careful...which translates into learning great shaving technique. CHEERS!!!

These Feather shavettes are the real deal. After using other brands, I'm hooked on these. I get comfortable shaves with much less nicks (and most of those are caused by by 75 yr-old face).. Shaving with one of these is a real pleasure and produces an extraordinarily close shave.

I subscribed from your first video I watched today. This one, with the Feather Straight is the fourth or fifth I've watched now. I absolutely love your videos, information without 20 minutes of yacking about the weather or movies. I came to learn, and I learned; no time wasted. I've been looking at your sales site. Some things are just out of my price range, but you have a great selection of affordable items. Just an all around great find when your video showed up on my feed today.

The merkur futur brush works really well with the old spice mug. The brush is silver tip badger and small so you do not bang the sides of the mug. Makes me feel like an old timer when using the vintage old spice bottles and mugs. I got several of the milk glass bottles and mugs off eBay.

I recently purchased feather artist club S1, and I’m looking for a blade. I am a barber but never really focused too much on shaving but I recently want to provide the service for my clients and I was curious which blade would you recommend for best comfort
@Ashengard111
@Ashengard111 4 жыл бұрын
I have the Feather DX aswell as cheap Chinese clones of the SS and the Kai Captain Zebrano, the SS and the Kai are similar for having the bulged lip on the shaving edge. I've found that the DX is much more comfortable for me while the other two require much more steep and unnatural angle for shaving and I feel like I'm not having very good control of the blade, perhaps because I have less visibility with the bulge at the end. I'm also new at the straight razor shaving (if you can call it that) so as a newbie the DX is still the better choice for me aswell as the much better looking one. If you are on a budget I'll recommend the standard Kai Captain which is not lipped and is almost identical to the DX but is half the price.

Thanks for the tip, I had taken the SS out of the running after learning about the bulged lip, and was debating between a $200 DX and $130 Kai captain pakkawood. The Kai captain came with a leather case and a pack of blades despite the lower price, and I'm glad to say I can't notice the lip whatsoever, I think it's basically identical to the DX.

Wassup handsome. Not that I enjoy watching you shave that handsome face of yours ( joke from a straight guy), but I been cutting my own hair using clippers, shaved using Schick Quattro and straight razor for the shape up at the end. Found trying to do a whole shave with a straight razor a bit sketchy but watching this video kind of gave me a bit of confidence watching this from start to finish. Now using my $15 straight razor vs this $100 to $200 feather product I have yet to be convinced. Not sure is I'm willing to spend that amount on a straight razor. Will be doing a bit more research I to this to see if I can believe more in the product. Definitely looks very solid. Especially the way the blades are packaged, (not to mention $20 for 15 blades). I'll update this comment once I figure it out. Thanks buddy.

Is there any reason to go for the Feather Artist Club DX instead of the SS? www.feather.co.jp/en/bh_Products/professional.html The SS seems to be slightly milder than the DX. Also that the DX is more adjustable (whatever that means). Some have mentioned the KAI Captain as an good alternative to the Feather Artist Club. The Kai uses their own blades. I find Shavettes razors, is like buying a car from Ford, and you can only fill it with Ford gasoline. That is why I like DE Safety Razors, it will never be an issue getting blades that work.

Hi! First time on your channel... Loved the vid! In your experience what's the best blade I can use with this razor? Does any of those you mentioned last more than one shaving session? Like, which the sharpest and longest lasting one?

Hi Brandon, Feather says you can get 10-12 shaves per blade.

You emphasized holding the blade fairly flat to the skin- do you feel it is very different on this razor as opposed to other shavettes, like Parker?

Those other shavettes are angled outward a bit more...

Geo, what is the differences between the blades, I believe there were 4-5 different blades that I have to use with this specific razor? I am looking to get it but need some clarity.

What's the difference between a straight razor and a shavete?
@starlodear2987
@starlodear2987 4 жыл бұрын
Shavette is a brand name owned by Dovo Merkur. It means instead of honing the edge you simply load new blades onto the razor. Shavettes tend to be more aggressive than straight razors because the blades are more rigid qnd industrially honed.

A shavette uses a replaceable blade. A traditional straight razor has a solid blade. shavenation.com/collections/shavette-razors shavenation.com/collections/straight-razors

Do you recommend the same shallow angle for the Feather Club DX? I watched one of your old videos where you appear to be using a DX and your angle in that is much more perpendicular.

Is using the Feather Artist Club SS razor just as easy as using a regular straight razor to shave oneself? I emailed Feather Company in Japan a while back. They said the Feather Artist Club SS razor was for professional barbers to shave others with.

In japan people pretty much just use cartridges or electrical shavers i hear. Itd be more unusual for people over there to use this but not unheard of... Pretty sure that's just corporate-speak. I hear some vintage DEs used to say that as well.

I've bought a cheap shavette razor and I have been using feather DE blades with it. I find the corners on the DE blades to be a bit dangerous. Are the blades for this one rounded at the edges? Is it an order of magnitude better than your typical shavette? By the way, I'll be using it on my head. Managed the shavette with just 1 nick so I'm fairly confident.

Geo I've been watching your vids for years from the UK. Sorry to see you've been demoted from the swish bathroom to what appears to be a dungeon. All you need is a couple of manacles hanging on the wall and Vincent Price holding your towel to complete the scene! Best wishes from England.

Ha Ha! You got me! I love it though... You know if I still had my (swish) McMansion I'd be in there making some Grade A videos. But you deal with the hand dealt you. So I'm pumping out more videos and now concentrate on the sound quality and content even if the back drop isn't totally appealing to the eye. My views and subs keep increasing steadily so I thing it's a winning formula. That being said-If someone wants to contribute a cool million$$ ShaveNationDonation or a spectacularly adorned bathroom laden house you can bet my ass will be in there doing that thing that I love the most about this whole business (making videos) Have a Great Shave, Have a Great Day!

Use your blade until youre no longer happy with the shave you get. Some people use a new blade every shave or two.. I know some people who use blades from 5 to 10 times each, depending on how regularly they shave and the thickness of their growth. I use a single edge shavette, similar to this video and i can use one blade for about 3-4 shaves to line up my beard and shave my neck and i also line up my hair line just as many times.

@@AllanDC97 DE Feathers are too sharp for me, they cut my beard well but they also scrape the top layer of my skin. With cartridge razors I have a similar problem with Gillettes and that's why Harry's worked best for me but the blade choice is a very personal thing, It depends what type of beard and skin you have and you can find the right one only by trial.
