Wow! What a beautiful blanket and the colours are so calming! I have been crocheting for 51 years, thanks to my Mom, Grandmother and Aunty who took pity on me when I was 5 and my brothers and cousins woukd not let me play with them as I apparently had girl koodies lol. They just didn’t like that I was better and making and throwing snowballs in the snowball fights. But it was nice to be inside warm and dry as the ladies crocheted fresh hats and mittens for the “hooligans and heathens” so they stayed outside playing and they got a break lol. All theee ladies are gone now but the skills they taught me live on and have been passed on to other family members also. This blanket is just beautiful! I have not done the feather stitch in quite some time, but remember when I first learned it, ohh the shoulder pain if I did it for too long😩 I wonder if going up a hook size would help ease the strain on your neck and shoulders, or maybe using an ergonomic hook would help, giving you more support in your tendons. I love different stitches where you have several loops on the hook and are using several rows for the stitches like the feather stitch and when my Nieces and Nephews kids ask me to make something, I do (I love that they love homemade gifts and actually request them). One wanted me to make her a wearable mermaid tale blanket but she had her own ideas of how she wanted it so I had to make it as she wanted and used a combo stitch with lots of loops over several stitches and rows. It looked great when it was done and think she might be a natural designer in the making but omg my shoulder, neck and forearm were killing me before I was half finished. Even cbd lotion wouldn’t help! A friend mentioned the ergonomic hooks so I got one in the size I was using for the mermaid tale and wow did it make a difference. It may help if you have not tried it already. Thanks also for sharing the designer’s name for the rose baby blanket, I will be going to check it out. I simply ador the colour combo of your yarn. I don’t find many with calming colours in Scotland, they all see to be really bright colours like a rainbow lorikeet. Pretty in some designs but certainly not calming and relaxing. Thanks again for sharing and showing us, this is one design I must make. And following your border design as well as it just completes it so well. Do you block your blankets before gifting them? I love finding out how other crocheters finish their blankets. I hate blocking but find it does make a real difference to stitch definition. Anyway, I hope you are well and enjoying a new design that is not hurting yoy.i truly appreciate your tutorials, I could spend all day watching you crochet. And I think I am weird and losing it, I have yt on mute as it is the wee hours and hubby is asleep, but watching you stitch and I caught myself counting stitches as if it was my crocheting. 🤦🏻‍♀🙊 I guess it means trying to go back to bed, I must be over tired. 😆 Keep up the great work you are so talented! 💖

Thanks Shelley. I use the Clover Amour hooks which are ergonomic. They are my favourite. I get neck and wrist pain if I’m using yarn that is too thick or that requires alot of effort to push the hook through. This yarn is beautiful and soft. It’s from Bendigo Woollen Mills here in Australia. I do block shawls and smaller items on foam boards with pins but not so much blankets unless they need it. This one is for my loungeroom and because the yarn is so soft I felt it didn’t need blocking.

Beautiful blanket! Thanks for the relaxing tutorial on the feather stitch, and I love your yarn choice and color variation. I must try that stitch in my next prayer shawl.
