Very fine video and playing! Hope other youngsters have patience through it. I recently changed from standard felt beater to a softer one on my pedal. Made me want to feather more (18 inch with a felt strip on the batter side).

Great video and very helpful! Thank you very very much :) Quote: "The slower I got, the more control I had to acquire." In my understanding this is because of the different distances we drummers travel with our sticks and our fingers, our hands, our arms and the kick beater and hihats and our feet and legs. The slower the tempo, the slower the pulse of the beat gets, our movements with our fingers, hands and arms want to automatically increase the distance travelled, to fill out the time between each stroke (like a conductor is doing). But the mechanics of kick pedal and charleston machine are not allowing this in the same way, because they work mechanically different together with feet and legs. The faster the beat, pulse and tempo is, the more the mechanism of all strokes and rebounds go towards matching/aligning with eachother. That's also the reason why beginners have a hard time to get a tight hihat stroke with their foot especially in slow tempi, because the charleston machine has the shortest way of movement, the shortest stroke mechanism.
