Yes, I would say the same. It's faster to do this maneuver yourself. And then to tell the truth, by me sitting inside the car, I would see it as even safer and I would feel calmer and a little less nervous.

@@aris1956 only time where i feel it would come into use is when u literally have enough space to park but to not get out, or youre parking the car in a dirty area and get out before it goes into the dirty area

Mostly, I agree. I can either carefully open my door, get in and back out of my fairly narrow spot in my garage, or i can use my phone. Using the phone, I don’t have to get in the car (and then climb back out if I am just moving the car out of the garage to make space), but it does take time to navigate the app. Taken in its entirety, though, the suite of park assist features are very, very useful.

My garage has a 6.5” clearance on each side of my 7 series. So instead of using the parking assistant, I just slather the doors and garage entrance walls with Irish butter and the car slides in just fine!

Not but four days after owning the car, I legit scratched my mirror cap. Can confirm the parking assistant DOES NOT LIKE such a small clearance :( It refuses to park my car. Alas. I’ll try not scrape something again sigh.

With my driving experience, I will accurately park my car with the aid of side mirrors and reverse camera and park two other cars before this remote parking will complete it's cycle. Humans have become too lazy and wants almost everything done for them effortlessly and seamlessly. In my opinion, the more you park cars in tight situations, the sharper your driving skills become.

Yes but if you damage a regular car, no one cares about fixing it or it would only cost a few hundred but on a bmw it would costs thousands just to repair a scratch.

@@oscar7476 Exactly. The 7 series is a beast of a sedan given its width and length. It was enjoyable for me to manually parallel park my Mini Cooper or even my 5 series (once I got used to it). It is NOT enjoyable to manually park the i7. I scratched the mirror cap of my i7 on my extremely narrow garage entrance and it cost nearly $700 to be repaired by a third-party bodyshop. Let's ... have a parking algorithm park the car perfectly, every time, thanks ...

At this point BMW has surpassed Mercedes Benz in regards to technology. People, you are missing the point about this feature. If you’re in a tight parking spot this can park for you remotely without you dinging your vehicle. I understand what about the other vehicle that doesn’t have it and they just might hit your vehicle, but it’s option you want to have than not have; no gimmick folks just technology and real issues being addressed.

BMW, a driver's car and as the ultimate driving machine is meant to be driven and not for automated and self driving gimmicks. What else can beat when we used to alternate between half and full clutching whilst pressing the gas pedal during making a 3 point turn or parking your car. The sound from the engine revs alone makes you feel to be commanding a beast of a machine.

Why??? Im a big BMW fan and currently own the ix50. However, so many features are painful to learn which sequence of buttons to press like Park Assist and Driver Assist. Too many very confusing steps. So not worth it.

Whining while you don’t have this at hand is subjective. I like this feature and use it regularly - it comes in quite handy and it allows me to step out before it becomes a hassle. BMW is all about comfort.
