Some would argue that Tibet belongs China per ancient chinese dynastic borders. Then again, Mongolia and Manchuria should also be claimed, if China wants to invoke such ancient claim. Not trying to defend/attack China, but for all i know, China is no longer monarchic. Hence ancient claims should no longer valid(?)

If there's one thing China wants more than more lands, it's full control over said lands' administration. Although, one can argue that freedom and autonomy should be given to Tibet for cultural and hereditary reasons, the next guy can just argue with administration efficiency and stability. It's shitfest i tell you.

"Controversial"? The video is trying really hard to be controversial. How? By not mentioning facts that are easily verifiable. One such fact is that India was not created only for Hindus and Sikhs. The very idea of India was that all religions can coexist in the same country peacefully. But a few Muslims were against that and wanted their own country. So Pakistan was created for Muslims. There is a reason that Muslim population is rising in India as a % of total population whereas Hindus have been completely erased from Pakistan. India is a secular country and Pakistan is an Islamic state as per their respective constitutions. Today, India has more Muslims than Pakistan does. But what does the video say about this? NOTHING. Its portrayed as if Muslims were never meant to be in India after independence. There are a lot of other things that this video has missed. Why? Because this video is nothing new. Every book written or video made on Kashmir by non-Indians and even by some Indians is recycling the same half-information because they are all missing the same facts. Which means their "original" research is not original at all. And this crap video is no different. I can't get over the fact that every one of these "experts" fail to mention the Hindu aboriginals' exodus from Kashmir that happened after . Another major inaccuracy in this video is the false claim that it is India who is preventing the plebiscite. Go read the relevant UN Security Council resolution 47. It states that the first necessary condition before a plebiscite can be held is that Pakistan needs to withdraw all forces from Kashmir. Did Pakistan withdraw its forces till date? No. But the idiot in this video, and every other idiot whom he copied from lay the blame of no plebiscite on India. The kind of falsehoods spun around this Kashmir issue are pathetic. And pathetic people like you fall for it. Well, idiots can keep making videos about Kashmir and more idiots, like yourself, can continue to make witty remarks on this subject as if you know it all, but that is not going to affect what is going to happen in Kashmir. Recently, Modi has been re-elected. This time, his Home Minister is Amit Shah, the second most powerful man after Modi. Shah will ensure that Kashmir is brought to heel. The constitution will be modified to ensure that we can take back Kashmir by demographic change. You a$$holes can cry about it all you want. Its simply the pot calling the kettle black because you people have never acknowledged the Hindu migrants from Kashmir who were chased from their homes and indeed, their lives.

The insurgency has been minimized to two districts in south Kashmir now. Turns out, you can kill your way through an insurgency if you horribly kill enough insurgents. There's also other things like infrastructure building and stuff that helps. Like literally the highest rail line in the world (it goes to leh and ladakh) and road tunnels bored through solid granite mountains.

So this is a good video but there are some important points that were skipped over. 1) Kashmir is divided into 6 regions: For Pakistan (Gilgit Baltistan - Shia, Azad Kashmir - Sunni), For India (Jammu - Hindu, Kashmir Valley - Sunni , and Ladakh - Shia/Buddhist), For China (Aksai Chin - Remote/No Inhabitants). Out of these while there is a small amount of independence movements in Gilgit, and Azad Kashmir, the main topic always mentioned is the Kashmir Valley. In the valley the majority of the insurgency is divided into 4 border districts. There is no insurgency in Ladakh and Jammu. Most of the militants are backed by Pakistan, but the overwhelming view in Kashmir Valley is independence. While Gilgit, and Azad kashmir would prefer to be in Pakistan, and Jammu and Ladakh want to be a part of India. 2) Kashmiri Hindu Exodus: During the 1990's Insurgents targeted the vulnerable Hindu Minority in the valley, and ethnically cleansed them out. This is also part of the reason India won't agree to this to a plebscite, because the Hindus who were kicked out would have supported India. Rehabilitation has been attempted, but Kashmiri Insurgents have attacked and killed Hindus recently again. They also don't support them living in closed communities for protection. 3) Also the Plebiscite was never fulfilled because Pakistani Tribal fighters were asked to evacuate the area they conquered as per the UN resolutions, they never did. Which prevented India from taking the 2nd step of sending in a small amount of soldiers for protection and stability to those areas. The third step was then to host the plebiscite.

@@utkarshdubey3435 What can you expect? Foreigners deliberately paint India as the agressor in the wars when it was Pakistan's actions every single time that led to war. 1947- Pakistani tribesmen bolstered by integrated Pakistani army regulars invaded the independent state of Jammu and Kashmir hoping to induce the Maharaja to surrender. The ruler fled to India, and India took advantage of an opportunity to gain an important region. Who wouldn't? 1965- Pakistan, having constantly set off border skirmishes, sent military regulars into Kashmir disguised as freedom fighters to precipitate an independence movement, and India counterattacked in Punjab. The war was fought to a standstill, with India giving back 500 sq km of Pakistani territory, and Pakistan giving back whatever it had managed to capture in Kashmir. 1971- economic troubles in East Pakistan led to a demand for greater autonomy, which snowballed into a freedom movement. The West Pakistanis who saw the East as being inferior, ruthlessly suppressed the protests, killing thousands, leading to an exodus of refugees into India (a lot of whom are still here today and made India their home). The refugee crisis and the suppression caused considerable consternation in India, and Indira Gandhi saw an opportunity to thin the herd of hostile states surrounding India. The Indian government supplied and trained the Mukti Bahini, just as America did to the Taliban, to fight back and achieve freedom. This angered Pakistan who launched a pre-emptive strike of limited effect against the west of India to divide Indian forces and drag them into a two front war. In response a war was declared, and the Indian military which had been preparing for this eventuality, went full out, capturing over a 100,000 PoWs in East Pakistan and helping Mukti Bahini liberate Bangladesh. The war was a humiliation for Pakistan as it's advanced Naval and Air Forces came out at equal footing to the much less technologically advanced Indian fleet and Air force. 1988- after a botched attempt at election rigging by Indian National Congress party, Pakistan, which has always schemed and plotted to take control of Kashmir due to supposed ownership of the valley on religious grounds, stirred up religious tension that led to the slaughter of large numbers of Hindus in Kashmir who were a minority group there. This led to a mass exodus of Hindus as well as bolstering of Islamic terrorist cells that had carried out the vile actions. When the valley continued to become unstable at the urging of separatists bolstered by Pakistani aid, the Indian military was sent in to contain the situation. They used excessive force and coercive tactics due to the perception of the threat, similar to American actions in Iraq and Afghanistan decades later. The tensions kept escalating during the 90s until the war in Kargil. 1999- Pakistani army regulars, disguised as militant irregulars, snuck through the snowy passes in winter season, in violation of longstanding agreements by both sides to not conduct warfare in winter, and took possession of several critical peaks across the Kargil, Dras and Batalik regions, from where they bombed the supply lines connecting Jammu and Kashmir to India. The Indian army conducted large scale mobilisation in response and through concerted efforts and disproportionate losses, managed to drive off the invaders. The war exposed many of the problems in the Indian military, such as outdated equipment and poor inter-force co-ordination, that led to higher than necessary casualties. Since then, there have been no real fights, but sabers have been rattled several times by the two sides. In every case of actual conflict, even the most idiotic of readers will notice that Pakistan has been the agressor, seeking to start a conflict and somehow defeat India, often through means that would be in violation of the Geneva convention on warfare. To date, Pakistan refuses to accept that it had sent regular active duty military troops to both India and Afghanistan (in support of the Taliban). After all, Osama was found right next to the premier military training academy in Pakistan. It would be like finding Hitler down the road from West Point. Pakistan's actions speak to its morals and intent. Yet the west ignores this and continues to spin the narrative of equal blame on both sides, while continuing to support the largest terror exporter in the world, Pakistan.

India never believed to split this state. There is no civil war but a cross border militancy trying to demoralise and subvert India's attempts to bring peace in the region. The instrument of accesion being a legal document was signed by the then head of state of kashmir which Pakistan has no right to repeal. Also the LOC or the Line Of Control is a cease fire line and not a border. 95% of the cases called as human rights violations were dismissed by the highest court of the country the Supreme Court of India. The recent unrest is paid and projected by the Pakistani military. And I have no clue why there is no coverage of lives in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) where the so called PM of their so called Azad Kashmir reports to a civil Servant, oppresion of civil liberties, no development, zero education and total fear of authorities is there. I protest on the way this video has been one sided seeing as a citizen to the only country in the world where in a counter terrorist operation we do not blow a terrorist with a drone but lose lives of our own brave soldiers to protect innocent kashmiris from terrorists every day, trained and supported by the pakistani military and their intelligence agency the ISI to harrass innocent lives and commit human rights violations every single day. This is an absolute outrage considering the fact that all three wars initiated on Kashmir were by a bankrupt and an inept state like Pakistan who is never going to be concerned for any regional stability in the region at all.

You failed to mention the forced exodus of Kashmiri Pandits (Hindus) from Kashmir valley in 1989. Also, the fact that in 1971, Pakistan was carrying out the worst atrocities against Bangladeshis (with US knowingly supporting them : see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1971_Bangladesh_genocide#US_complicity ) leading to a massive influx of Bangladeshis to India. This was what forced India to liberate Bangladesh. Also, the Siachen conflict in 1984 to occupy the previously undecided Saltoro ridge and Siachen glacier. Pakistan has funded other separatist movements in India for a long time like Khalistani movement in accordance with their military policy of "death by a thousand cuts". Your research glosses over all of this historic baggage. I understand that it is difficult to present a holistic take on such a contentious topic. Please mention the sources you used to make this video because as it stands, it presents a very one-sided, blinkered picture of the Kashmir conflict.

I wrote this (rather emotional) comment earlier. Reposting for visibility (with some edits to be less combative): Off the top of my mind, here are some rather valid points that you missed mentioning: 1. The prerequisite to the referendum mandated by the UN resolution was that FIRST Pakistan was to withdraw their troops from Kashmir, followed by India, after which the referendum was to take place. That never happened. Therefore, the referendum never happened. 2. No mention of the Hindu Kashmiri Pandits who were literally ethnically cleansed out of Kashmir? Ok then. 3. No mention of Operation Gibraltar? Or that Pakistan still supports these ““insurgents””? 4. No mention of the fact that India stands by the constitutional commitment to free speech whereas Pakistan completely bans any separatist movements? That people get disappeared when they speak out in POK? And wait, Hari Singh was MADE to sign the Instrument of Accession? FYI, he did it to save his land from the Pakistani invaders who were terrorizing the locals. If Hari Singh was made to sign an agreement under duress, why did the Indians add Article 35A to it? The same piece of legislation that allows J&K to have a separate parliament, and prevents Indians to buy land there. To me, that sounds like a pretty balanced treaty with concessions on both sides. >inb4 angry Hindu nationalist Although I am an Indian, I’m actually a Muslim (not a practicing one, however). I’m just sick of how westerners have bought hook, line and sinker into the Pakistani version of the events. Sure, Indian Forces have blood on their hands. It is a reprehensible thing about conflict, that it brings out the worst in men and women. Does it imply that India, the entire nation, is responsible for the bloodshed? And what about the blood spilled by the Paki-backed ""insurgents""? Too few foreign commenters ever hold them responsible for their share of misery. They're portrayed as the perennial underdog, up against the might of the Indian State; yet few mention their Islamist sympathies and how they were responsible for the literal ethnic cleansing of the Hindus of the Kashmir valley. Everyone loves bashing India for a conflict it never wanted, conveniently forgetting that Pakistan is the one culpable here. India isn’t encroaching on sovereign territory that never belonged to her. She's merely defending what is legally her own. And hypothetically, let’s assume Kashmir does get “”freedom””. What then? You have one very geopolitically important piece of land situated at the junction of a regional power, a nascent superpower, and an irredentist state. Either the Kashmiris will be silenced by the Pakis, or have their rights utterly trampled by Emperor Xi (but with a LOT of investment in infrastructure and overall economic upliftment, though). With India, the Kashmiris have more rights than any other Indian state GIVE TO REST OF THEIR OWN CITIZENS. And India has sunk billions into the perennially underperforming Kashmiri economy. And yet the “”insurgents”” want freedom? Please.

What most people fail to mention is that in 1989 insurgency lead to the Exodus of Kashmiri pandits. 1500+ pandits were killed and 50000+ Hindu families had to flee the valley. Also, the insurgency was completely Pakistan backed with youth tricked into thinking that Pakistan will liberate Kashmir, but it turned out to be a false promise and ISI just focused on proxy war. India didn't oppress Kashmiris for no reason, and Kashmir has every right to fight back oppression. Most of the people on either side of the issue are working for peace, with exception of few.. *The only thing that can solve Kashmir is dialogue* , which our current right wing populist government is not interested in at all.

Only 200 were killed since the 90's acc.to the official indian govt. data. This "genocide of kashmiri Hindus" is a lie propagated by Right Wing Hindu Nationalist. Also the insurgency wasn't backed up by Pakistan. Read about JKLF.

Looks like you missed the parts about the ethnic cleansing of the late 80s- early 90s & the fact that most of the insurgents in Kashmir receive sponsorship, training, etc. from Pakistan.
