There once was a man named Saddam Hussein, who was president of Iraq. He had fame, power, and wealth beyond your wildest dreams. Before they hung him from the gallows, these were his final words. He said: "My WMD'S are yours for the taking, but you'll have to find it first! I left everything I own in once piece." Ever since, terrorists all over the world set sail for the Middle East, searching for One Piece, the weapons that would make their dreams come true.

Papa Francesco Bush Senior was a far better military leader than Bush Jr, and Obama. Bush senior serve in the Navy with an impressive military record, and had a great deal of experience in international affairs having serve under Regan. Bush jr. was a jet pilot in the Texas reserves, with no combat experience, and Obama never serve in the military.

@@ReySchultz121 Just like Christianity there was a schism where due to religious/ political regions two main sects of islam formed with one being sunni and the other being Shia. So there is just 2 that's all you need to know. Shias are obviously the minority but are armed and formed into militias all over the Middle East by Iran as part of geopolitics of Iran. Shiasim in general was a tiny minority until a group called the Safavids came to power and forced convert all sunnis with Iran and in Iranian dominions to shiaism as a power move. As for religious differences there really isn't much between sunnis and Shias.

You missed two very important issues, 1. when Saddam invaded Iran, it was coordinated with Iranian generals who hoped that they can use the shock and chaos that will follow to take down the Khomeini regime. it was planned that the operation will take less than 3 weeks for those generals to get the job done, Khomeini instead use the opportunity to consolidate his power taking the aggression as an excuse to do so 2. Saddam only invaded Kuwait after getting the green light from the USA, the US ambassador to Iraq told him "we do not have any defense agreements with Kuwait ", which he took as green light to invade Other comments: Iraqis did not dislike the royal family because they were Syrians or whatsoever , they disliked the fact that it was an absolute monarchy acting as a puppet to the UK. they were the Hashemite family from Mecca. The royal family of Iraq were actually from Hijjaz, mecca to be exact, (western part of Saudi Arabia now), they lost their kingdom by being betrayed by the UK after WWI , which promised them the same lands to the Zionist state and France. Instead of giving the Hashemites a united Arab kingdom as they promised, they give them three separate kingdoms and the fourth state was Israel they lost two of them to revolt against the absolute monarchies that were puppet to the UK, only Jordan now has a hashemite king Ben Saud was willing to go farther in obeying the UK than the Hashmites, so they used him to give the hashmite a humbling delete.

Great Video Feature History , However you i was puzzled to see a few IMO important things omitted: 1. USA Supported Saddams war in Iran, at least "morally" giving Saddam the impression that USA supported his politics in the middle east. 2. Prior to invading Kuwait, incurring the wrath of USA, Saddam actually contacted the US foreign ministry to ask about their stance regarding the issues between him and Kuwait. He got an answer that was essentially "what happens there is none of our business". Thus he believed that to be a "go ahead" for his invasion, hence his violent reaction when USA suddenly defended Kuwait militarily. 3. While the UN did place sanctions on Iraq, none of the military action taken by NATO against Iraq in 2003 (not sure about 1990) was condoned by UN, quite the opposite. 4.Arab nationalism. From what i know Arab nationalism divides into Pan-arabism (the wish to unite all arabic speaking people in a federation, like Bismarck unified Germany) and Baathism (More generic National state centered nationalism). In the "arab cold war" as you call it, Egypt and syria were Pan-arabist, at least from 1960-70 (under Nassir in Egypt).

5. Denmark joined the invasion force the day after the war broke out, but critically before any UN sanction to do so. Incidentally, the political party that thought that was a great idea lost power in '08, and regained it in '15, where they immediately shut down the commission investigating the illegal war that they involved us in.

Just discovered this channel and I find it really great. :) I do however have one opinion: there is quite the focus on wars and politics, but not so much on social history necessarily. My parents lived in Baghdad during Saddam's vice-presidency and I half expected to hear an account of how Iraq looked like socially and economically during the different stages of Saddam's power, as this would give more insight to uninitiated people than the results of his deposing alone. This might be a great burden for the lengths your videos currently have and would maybe make them a bit too long to serve as introductions. But yeah, just a thought :)

as an iraqi i really enjoyed this video, well enjoyed is a wrong expression but you get what i mean. we will still have some MAJOR problems after isis, but they're administrative problems, and/or internal security problems that are more social than political. but the reign of blood is coming to an end, this war on isis is the last purge, the last Armageddon, after which things will be settled much more quietly.

alister moore no but wwii for japan and usa was an embargo war on oil. Look up nanjing then us sanction on japans war with china that led to embargo. Then the attack on pearl harbor cause usa would not lift the embargo or the sanctions. Since in japans statements protecting its countries interest. I. Other words fuck destablizing china japan will grow stop inervening in our expansion. We want pie too usa just like how usa expanded into philipines guam hawaii midway wake island the list goes onnnn. Thats mainly the cause of wwii with japan and usa an embargo war on oil. Its simple japans kick china ass from 1930 to 1937 nanjing happened cause china got stupid. Ametica gpt involved and said were cutting our fossil fuel trade with you since ur using oil for evil and spreading also into malaysia. Now were sending supplies to china to have them fight you along side great Britains forces pouring in from both austrailia and india. Then japans like , WTF why are u getting involved with our war against a country that tried to invade us in 1100. And pissed us off and crossed the line with us in 1894??? We are conquering them because they are shit and need an ass whooping. So us is like no what your doings evil withdraw your forces from china and malaysia your also in british territory approaching too close to hong kong. So japans like well fuck then fuck you we are not doing what we did in the russon japanese war we are not giving up lands we won. So usa pressured Japan even more sending ships marine troops tp philipenes and placing strict sanction on oil trade. This pissed off japan greatly and deemed us intervention as disrupting japans interest of prosperity. So japan and us sent amabassadors back and forth back and forth back and forth until nov of 1941. Japans had enough talk it was going to goto war with USA and force usa the withdrawal OF the embargo and tough sanctions since its no longer an isolation country. For japan to survive in the 20th century it needs oil and it was affecting expansion and way of life for japanese. So japans in early dec launched its main fleet to do a surprise attack on pearl harbor it was war. The embargo war wwii. Ps why did japan invade malaysia? LARGE amounts of oil was being housed there.

Yet another example of a narrative being repeated so often that it becomes the accepted truth. Bush said when he left office that he wished he hadn’t let that banner be hung because he knew it would get taken the wrong way by a media that reveled in embarrassing him. He’s spent his post-presidency years working with veterans of these conflicts, helping them heal. He is visibly bothered by what happened, a condition we now have a term for: Moral Injury. Saddam, for all he stumbled into doing correctly, never took up the time to care for veterans injured or maimed in his conflicts.
