His dad also played in the NHL, AHL, NL, DEL. (combined of over 1000 pro games; reg+po counted for) 7 times represented team Canada at Spengler Cup and also wore the team Canada jersey for the World Championship as well He is also the Calder Cup champion, 2 x DEL league champion. Buuut this is about Landon (and WHL produced video), so i totally get it, why only mention WHL :)

I went camping with my friend who’s dad friend was Mickey DuPont and Landon was there and I’m hoping to be in the nhl as a proper defenseman and hope to be like him and makar :)

Good luck to him. Exceptional status doesn't mean you'll be a star or anything. So he'll join Bedard, Misa, Tavares, Ekblad, Day, McDavid, Velano, and Wright. Ekblad has played in a SC Finals and is solid, McDavid in a Conference Final and is great, Day lacked hockey sense and drive to make it, Tavares has had little playoff success but plenty of stats. Velano is making it as a 2nd/3rd liner, and Wright is still trying to find his way. Misa still in Junior, Bedard one great year behind him. Maybe DuPont can be the first one to win a Cup and be a great player like McDavid is, Tavares and Ekblad sort of are, Bedard will be. Exceptional status should be for players with the physical ability to play, hockey sense, and drive.

At 5'11 he'll have to grow 3-4+ inches to have the required height for today's defensemen in the modern NHL. That's the first thing that will be on his pro scouting report. Even back in the 70&80's under 6'1" was pretty much a no go for NHL defensemen. There was a fair numer of big boy's at 6'3-6'5 on the blue line back until the 6'6-6'9 guys started showing up in the 90's-2000's. I wish the kid luck.

LOL - you old heads need to go find something to do. There is absolutely no requirement for height for an NHL defenseman. Some of the best D men in the league are around 5'10 or 5'11.

yeah everett would be stupid not to take him.. i just hope to god they have enforcers that can protect his butt for the first couple years.. i mean i know hes 5 foot 11 , 170 pounds, but still they hit hard in the whl

I just hope this one has a squeaky clean background. No more surprise racist pasts, harassment against women, bullies, anti-LGBTQ, DUI, etc. If that exists, they just need to come clean ASAP... because whether you like it or not, people need to be accountable for their pasts and no, being a kid is NOT an excuse at all.
