Well, that's "The Case of the Greek Interpreter". It's best known as the Doyle story in which Holmes' brother Mycroft first appeared. It was he, not Holmes himself ,who was a member of the Diogenes club. (I was kind of hoping that that club member Watson mistakes for Holmes at the beginning would turn out to be Mycroft, but no.) On another note, I don't know why theychanged it from a Greek interpreter to a French interpreter. (Maybe because actors who spoke Greek were harder to find at the time?)

This episode was admirably done in the Granada series with Jeremy Brett as Holmes.

Quite a bit different ending than in the original story, but I suppose time constraints required simplifying.
