You guys have NO idea how beneficial a tax funded health care system can be for most individuals. And it’s easy to find fault with individual cases or situations because bad things can happen at all levels of care. But if we in Australia had to pay directly every time a loved one was hospitalised, which over 99% of us don’t have to do, we’d have all been dead decades ago. Nobody here on any income level has to pay for emergency or necessary surgery or health care, except those who choose to take out private health insurance for whatever reason, and hundreds, perhaps thousands of lives are saved every day as a direct result of our decision to have a Medicare system. Yes it’s been eroded time and time again by right wing parties when in government but what’s left still works well for most patients. I’m not Canadian, I don’t have Steve’s chronic back problems, and perhaps I shouldn’t comment on Michelle’s comment that the Canadian health care system only seems to care for people that don’t take care of themselves, but that opinion is very surprising..
@ericsexton67994 ай бұрын
@@stevegunning1806, does everyone in Australia pay taxes ? In America , approximately 47% of the population do not pay federal income tax , yes they do pay tax on things in their everyday life , but not to the federal government. Thomas Sowell wrote that , when a third party is paying the bill, they neither care about the cost or the quality of the product being provided , because they are not actually paying for it .

Thanks for posting...as an engineer I can relate to Steve's apparent lack of expressing enthusiasm for what you do...we can be immensely impressed but also somewhat stoic. I believe Steve shows his care for you by helping when you ask while otherwise not getting involved and giving you the "freedom" and support to do what's important to you and the things that you like to do....He lets you be yourself....

Hi Michelle, I just recently had the seventh surgery on my leg that was mangled in a head-on collision. Not my fault, wrong place wrong time. It has been frustrating at times but it is finally improving. I will never be able to do some of the things I used to do but I have accepted that. I spent a lot of time watching KZbin clips and found yours a while back. Thank you for being down to earth and sharing your life. For me it has been motivational and I am sure for others as well. I hope Steve makes a full recovery. You both are blessed to have each other and to live in such a beautiful place. Stay safe and by the way I am a huge animal lover as well.I used to volunteer my time with a rescue group. Those days are over but I can still make a difference by adopting shelter animals!

At 79 yrs old I have been on Lyrica for 20 yrs, for severe peripheral neuropathy, caused by a year of Tx with Enterfiron (Sp). Lyrica makes the nerve pain tolerable, but a delayed or missed dose brings the agony right back. Seeing Steve working on the pump in his bathrobe is a testament of his determination and resilience. I say hang in there buddy, you"re on the mend. I too enjoy your "little projects", which are very entertaining, with Foxy Loxy, being my favorite. Keep up the good work, Michelle.

Wow, what an amazing coincidence. My main guy that works for me in my Remodeling business, is going thru what Steve is dealing with, as we speak. It may not be identical, but I can say to everyone, that back problems are SO debilitating and painful. Its one of those things that you cant even relate to, unless you are wearing those shoes. So I wish a BIG shout out to Steve, to just hang in there and try to get well soon. Michelle, you did a great job on the hot tub. Man I bet that felt so amazing, and it was well deserved. Take good care of yourselves, you guys. Better times are ahead!

Glad Steve is getting better and got the right surgery. I agree with you about our Healthcare and I know a lot of people will disagree with me but we need private healthcare in this country. If I can afford it then why should I not get it without having to travel. 34% of my income goes to tax while our EMR’s are overran, wait times for surgeries can be months sometimes years. I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos and hope you stay enthused enough to continue. Thanks for Steve's surgery info, now 70, with spinal stenosis at L3, L4, L5 and walking 10-20 yards without a break is painful, I expect to have some form of it down the road. Not looking forward to it but it doesn't stop me from doing what I want. It just may take longer. Good luck to Steve. And good luck to you in your one person hot tub.

I had a laminectomy of T4-T7 in May 2023 at UW in Seattle too. My surgery has provided a stop to the degeneration, but I still have the nerve damage that had occurred. It's a slow and frustrating process so take care of yourself, and ask Steve to take care of himself too, physically and mentally. It's a change of pace, but hopeful for a positive outcome. Like you said, it's a process. I can't imagine the stress of getting in a car for that long right after surgery to return home... where it's quiet and calm. Cheers

Well engineered box, Michelle. You built it out of decent plywood, to begin with. That helps. I'm sorry Steve is still in pain. Glad the Lyrica is helping though. I know he's frustrated... and being in constant pain, will depress anyone. Nerves are tricky things... and their healing is complicated. "Normal" is a relative term... particularly when it comes to pain. Good to see you out, and doing "Michy" things around the place. For whatever it's worth, thank you for sharing. I haven't watched every video you've put out... yet. I will, though. As a long-haul trucker, I have limited time at home, but your KZbin channel is my favorite. What a great channel this one is. Love watching the dogs, and your projects. As time moves on, your videographer skills are improving. I continually look forward to viewing your content.

The quads are nice, but for versatility the mules are tops. I've used both (plowing, beach detail, etc...) and there is no comparison. The quads look cool, but the mule is called the "mule" (various companies have different names for the truck type) for a very good reason. Glad to hear Steve got the operation and it was non-invasive. I hope he finds some relief soon. He's tough, but back pain is the worst when you are a very active person. Neat hot tub! 😉👍Hi, doggos and kitty!

It’s funny you say that about your health care. Our liberal media here in the states is constantly telling us how our health care needs to be more like Canada’s.

I am a Canadian and I can assure you our healthcare system isn’t worth it your months and months waiting for test waiting for surgeries. Don't worry our government in the states has forced their control and put everyone on the system .We found out how much control they have during covid.Lying to us and threatening us if we didn't comply.Now our healthcare and police departments are bad and it takes months to get results and longer to get specialists...You don't even get to talk to doctors anymore after testing to ask questions.You go online and find it your chart and hope you understand the lingo.You arent told to come back or anything...it's a joke here...A girl had a stroke and its several months before she can see a specialist.Stokes keep happening so that's outrageous...
