February Bass Fishing on the California Delta

Back on the California Delta for some February Bass fishing. Sometimes the bite is wide open and you can seemingly do no wrong as long as you have at least one of the variables right (Bait, Location, Time of day, Tide). Other days you literally need to have every one of those variables right to get bit. Today was the latter.

Very impressed by your graceful, fluid movements in a kayak When I try to put on a rain jacket from a hatch after undoing the life jacket it looks like a hippo trying to make a series of 180 maneuvers in quicksand.

Yeah you can tell he's spent thousands of hours in that rig- and, as rigs go it's one of the best on the market as far as being stable and spacious. The seat sits 15 inches off the deck- or close to it, makes moving around a lot easier. Mine sits directly on the kayak itself- no lift whatsoever- your but is level with your feet- makes fishing or moving around a nightmare. Not to mention anytime you even lean one way or the other the whole kayak tips- and it will tip right on over if you don't watch it. I know ppl like flukemaster tell ppl to just buy whatever they can afford an get out there but- I don't think Flukemaster has ever tried to fish from a 250 dollar kayak like mine. It's basically pointless- it flips so easily you can't take it anywhere with significant chop or boat traffic- your but sits even with your feet which makes fishing near impossible and you can't stand- there's little to no storage and what is there is very inefficient and difficult to access while on the water- and the list goes on. It's good for one thing and one thing only- running small rivers and creeks where it's too tight to maneuver a larger kayak and you need something light weight you can portage with ease- and something you don't mind getting really muddy and scratched/beat up. In this case its perfect but- forget fishing the lakes and stuff with it. I am going to keep mine for running rivers and stuff though- when I upgrade- if I ever do.

I was at Lake Berryessa on Saturday and it was so windy that your kayak would flip easy but I was lucky enough to catch a trout and spotted bass on a nedrig in the willies.

Greg, when you fun fish you usually catch nice monsters. But on a tournament, on that same lake it can be a grind. I wonder if it's all the boat traffic, and the other 50 to100 anglers, and some times more. But great fishing. Be safe bro..

Question? About to buy another yak thought about a titan 10.5. I've owned hobie pa and wilderness. What's the difference from the hobie hulls and native titan hull and what kind of problem do titans have on the hulls like cracks leaks etc. I've been kayaking about 11yrs.

Good job Greg awesome to see someone slay some bass like that but I went to lake McClure last weekend and I went with my dad and girlfriend on my dads boat then my grandpa and my dads uncle went on my grandpas boat but we didn’t do all that great but we fished deep all day we never tried up shallow but I think that’s where a lot of them were at because the water was 60 degrees in some areas I thought that was crazy for this time of year I feel like that’s kinda early but I think the pre spawns coming quick but once again great video as always Greg it’s cool to watch someone kinda from my area slay fish and as post it to KZbin so thanks for doing what you do especially right now because of covid these videos save me from boredom lmao keep those lines tight Greg ✌️

I love my underspins. When they are on they are on. I yo-yo them, drag the bottom with them and swim them hi and on top of grass. They are my search bait lately. It's almost time for chucking the bluegill and craw stuff, so i will not use it as much in the near future. I am sure there will be times where i can't resist, especially if the bite is slow on the others. Thanks again for taking me fishing with you, i always love your vids.
