Hot Library Tip: Some library systems have reciprocity agreements where you can get a library card from them if you have one from yours. My local library has reciprocity with the Seattle public library. So I can get that additional card free!

Yess! thank you for preaching the good word of Libby, especially that you can have multiple cards!! I still have my card from when I lived in WA in addition to where I live now, and it is a GIFT. My favorite things from Feb were: Watching some native seeds I planted start to sprout, finding that my local antique store still had a lamp I first saw last July and finally buying said lamp, and a spontaneous concert 9 minutes from my house from one of my fav singer/songwriters.

today was the first warm sunny day here in a while and it felt so GOOD to be outside again. One of my favorite things to do is go down to the water/docks and sit on a bench in the sun and be anonymous and enjoy humans being human (I hope this doesn't sound weird) but it's lovely to me to observe everyone coming outside and enjoying the sun and life in different ways, and be reminded that the small things are really what makes life worth living

My 4 favourite things from last month, including a beverage, an activity and two concepts: 1. Lime sparkling water. Delicious and a little bit zingy. 2. Making art!! Getting back into digital art in Procreate, and I went to a pottery painting night with a local sapphic social group. So much fun to create again! 3. Curiosity. Genuine curiosity rooted in love and respect played a huge part in helping me get back in touch with my former self from before my last relationship. After the break-up, I questioned what kind of person I was and tried to remember what my personality and values were before my ex broke me down to nothing. I'm a teacher and getting back in touch with my curious nature helped remind me who I was before I dated my nasty and judgmental ex. It was illuminating but sad when the friends I met through my ex told me they felt like they were finally getting to know the real me, and not the version of me that was afraid of being genuine around my ex. Curiosity was the key to building myself up again. 4. Embracing unique experiences, even if they cost a bit more money than I'd rather spend. Until I turned 26, I barely spent any money. Lived in a crappy cheap apartment and put as much of my paycheque as I could toward repaying my student loans. I paid back 34k in 2.5 years, but all I ever did was work. No time for social activities, no shopping, no travelling, nothing. Last year, I booked a 10 day trip to the U.S. and decided to quit my job to go to grad school. Even though I'm living on student loans and a part-time tutoring job, I'm less afraid to spend my money on unique experiences. Such as planning a solo road trip to see Hozier in Boston (my first ever concert!!), going to queer social events, and even just buying tickets to see movies in theatres instead of waiting for it to come out on streaming. Having a social life has brought back so much quality to my life and I'm happy to spend my money wisely to keep it up, rather than suffering but saving as much as I can.

Get well soon! Stay hydrated! My February favorites: 1. Coming back to finding joy in listening to my all time favorite band's songs. I shut down BADLY in 2023. Depression was destroying me on a very scary level for months on end. In my own strange form of self-harm, I cut my favorite band's music out of my life early last summer. Well, I chose to pick that music I love so much back up in February. I've been smiling and singing along. 2. Every Feb., a nearby library branch does a Valentine's display called "Blind Date with a Book". They wrap books like presents and put a sticker on the front stating the genre. I grabbed 2 random books, only checking to make sure the genre stickers did not say horror. I ended up checking out one book that I NEVER would've chosen on my own and fully expected to return the next day after rolling my eyes through one chapter. A romance novel?!? Nope. Not my style. To my surprise, I loved the book! It's not anything at all like what I normally read, but I really, really, really enjoyed it. It made me laugh! And, the protagonist is someone I'd want as a friend. I was thoroughly astonished that I enjoyed this fabulous bit of brain fluff: The Bodyguard by Katherine Center. This book is hilarious, well-written, and very, very sweet. (TW: drowning, PTSD, destructive grief) 3. Grapefruit juice: the greatest of all juices. It's my hydration source of choice through the sun-starved, chilly, damp, icky, final slog of winter days. 4. Iced lattes with an obscenely large amount of turbinado sugar added in. This ridiculously unhealthy concoction is my drug of choice. It can help stave off an emerging migraine. A small cup can energize me when I'm feeling lower than a slug's anus. And, it basically tastes like a dessert in liquid form. I had as many in Feb. as I normally have in the space of 4 months. Oops. No regrets. 5. The youtube channel Cooking the Books. She makes recipes from vintage cookbooks and does cookbook haul reveals. Her appreciation of 1940s-50s illustration particularly delights me. 6. Rewatching S1-2 episodes of the 1970s tv show Barney Miller for the gazillionth time. 7. Learning about the White Violet Farm and the Sisters of Providence of Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods who are badass feminist, social justice, eco activist Women Religious. Their founder Saint Mother Theodore Guerin triumphed over a power-tripping misogynist cardinal back in the day, and the sisters are still raising hell for heaven more than 150 years later. I'm not Catholic. I'm not even a Christian. But, I adore these iconoclastic Catholic women! 8. The scent that fills the room when I burn my favorite candle: Lavender Rosemary soy wax and essential oils candle from Aroma G's Botanica.

The Ohio Digital Library is available for Ohio Residents, no charges, and runs through Libby. I was able to get a Cleveland Library card. You can try, I can't recall if that was all residents or a deal with the county I live in. The spending is different and I see that through borrowing. No need to pay for audio or books.

You are correct that there are lots of libraries that offer cards to nonresidents, sometimes for a fee and sometimes for free. For example, if you work in a town different that where you live, that town may offer library cards to individuals who work in town. We have very similar tastes in books and video games. Murderbot is a comfort read. I recommend The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers. Cozy sci-fi ❤ I love a video game with a good story. Undertale is my favorite game of all time. Also try Night in the Woods. I play it every spooky season. Most of all, my dog Seamus when he sleeps on his back with his little paws in the air. I love him sooo dang much. ❤

I've been enjoying "Feud: Capote vs. The Swans" (on FX). It's a time warp back to 60s-70s high society NYC, and the costumes and sets are luscious. There was an episode with a fancy ball, and fashion designer Zac Posen did the gowns for the main characters. The best part, though, is that Posen did some BTS vids (I watched them on YT and IG) on developing the garments, and he's such a delightful fashion/sewing nerd.

I recently watched this Japanese film called Perfect Days, and its so beautiful and quiet and mundane (in the best way). The main character has inspired me to prioritize listening to my favorite albums more and doing so on purpose. i second charm jewelry! I made so many necklaces this month. I want to find some vintage ones too. I also took my sewing machine out for the first time in years and made myself a skirt!! Excited to make some more for the spring/summer !

Those are snow drops! I'm almost certain (immediately backs down on confident opening statement). Our garden is full of them and neighbours come round to see them at this time of year... that's right, bragging about my snow drops ✌🏻🌱

Hi! New sub here! Also a Scorpio! I’ve been wanting to say this since I watched you thrift that long white leather raglan that had some dirt on it. I have washed many a leather jacket in the washing machine (not the new washing machines that don’t use much water, the regular kind.). Instead of using detergent I use shampoo and then a bit of hair conditioner in the rinse cycle and they come out beautifully! I lay flat to dry but keep flipping it over as it’s drying. I have done this with not only hard core leather, but also very soft leather pants and jackets. Haven’t lost one yet! 🙂 Love your videos! 💜✌🏼
