Cupboard shelves that are out of reach and/or awkward (like corner cupboards), for my household, are reserved for the things that are accessed least often: special occasion dish set, crockery that we only use for big holiday meals, extra items in the pantry and medicine cabinet, etc. I personally err more minimalish and would prefer not to need to put anything too high to reach easily, but the rest of the household is not (which is fine, lol, we're all different), so it's all about making things as functional as possible for everyone.

The cupboards in my new house are ridiculously high. Having a sturdy step stool that’s easy to grab and store is essential for me. Then I just put the less accessed stuff up there, like holiday or party serving stuff, or extra backstock. Then at least it’s not wasted space, but I only have to deal with it a few times per year.

Laundry Tip!! A few years ago I started separating my laundry by family member. It is a game changer! My brain doesn't have to go all over the place when folding and putting away laundry. I know that these are all of my clothes or all towels or all of my sons clothes etc. And if I don't feel like folding or putting away I just hand the whole load to my husband or children. Give it a try. You won't regret it!

I don’t really do spring cleaning. About once a week, I do some household task that is out of the ordinary and more in the “deep clean” category - like cleaning all the ceiling fans, wiping down baseboards, cleaning out a closet or cleaning out the filter in the dishwasher. Spreading it out throughout the year makes it seem less difficult.

I “deep cleaned” my house for so many years, without actually deep cleaning anything. I was literally just picking up after everyone (including myself🤭) and then doing a bit of cleaning. When we have to pick up a lot before cleaning, it’s so much effort. You got this though,you’re doing so well!🥰 On a side note though, I can’t remember the last time I mopped the entire house in one go. I HATE mopping. I mop 1 or 2 rooms every 5 days or so. It keeps my floors sparkling clean and it doesn’t make me want to smash the mop🤭 I’m sure a lot of people would not like my cleaning routine but it works for me and my family….and that’s what we all want right? Something that works for our own families❤️❤️

This might not be the best idea with declutteringprojects in mind and so, but i thought if some nice decoration peaces would suit on the top shelves in the cupboards, some fake greenery or other nice peaces, or something meaningful. Also read some previous comments recommending partystuff etc on the topshelves where you have to deal with them only a few times during the year, sounded also good. I start to get motivated to spring clean when the sun starts to feel warmer, the snow starts to melt, birds are singing and its warmer and sunnier outside. I live in Finland where the winter is abit longer and spring takes its time to get here 😂😅
@angela_flute526898 ай бұрын
Cabinets that are too high (or any spots that are difficult to reach) are where seasonal or other infrequently-used items or backup storage go. I actually prefer to do my "spring cleaning" in January and February. The busy holiday season is over, you're organizing new stuff and getting old stuff out, and nothing else is going on (unless you get sick). Once springtime hits, I'm too busy with outside projects and more things on the schedule, though there are a few chores that work better when it's warm outside, like cleaning the outsides of the windows, rinsing the dirt off the house, vacuuming the garage, etc., and of course the start of yard work.

I put things that only get used a certain times of the year (Thanksgiving, Christmas , etc. ) on those tops shelves. You could also use them for your "time will tell" items when decluttering your kitchen. :) I am a flybaby from years ago ...like 20+ years... I don't follow the plan completely but like you have taken things from it each time I commit to starting again. Right now I am just focused on keeping my kitchen clean every day, 5 minute tidy everyday and I pick one room everyday and pick the top 3 things I want to do in that room ( Mon: kitchen, Tue: DR, Wed: LR, Thurs: MBR Fri: bathrooms) I don't schedule anything for the weekends but if I am home and not doing something fun I pick something to declutter. Is my home great...nope but it's better a lot better!

Hello there! I don't get a real spring clean itch, but I do things that I won't have time for once garden season starts. I have a real garden and it is starting to create work in March. What happened this year: I went through the cabinets and tidied the basement and attic. I will clean the windows and then buy supplies like soil, spring plants etc before I start digging into the garden issue, so I only will have to get rid of organic garden waste and not have other stuff on top. Part of that prep work is getting the cats vaccinated, so they can start going outside again ❤ I too don't have a routine. If it is dirty, I put it on my list. Thank you for motivating me from halfway around the world! Greetings from Luxembourg 🇱🇺
