Hi Helen, his makes so much sense. I tend to do the same thing, by not including something like the example you gave in the video about your morning pages, and wonder why I'm not being that productive. These videos are very helpful and make me feel like I'm not alone in my creative journey and what that looks like for me. As always thanks for sharing ♥

For me, morning pages drains my creative energy massivly. I do not do it in the morning anymore. I need that brainpower for my book

I've started to use them as a brain drain as and when needed. Just wrote about this today at Kathartic's Newsletter on Substack.

Great that you figured out how to represent the additional workload! I can understand how you were thrown off in January. By introducing the Morning Pages you 'dramatically' changed your routines and invested a big chunk of your time without accounting for it. I could imagine that you and/or your subconscious, using habits as kind of an autopilot got confused, not knowing what to do or what was expected, since the daily procedures weren't the same anymore. And maybe, like a dog who's asked to learn a new command is scratching his ears, you started checking the social media like a substitute action 😊 All the best for February!

Research has shown when we have a system, the second we don't put it all in there, our brains know something isn't in the system and stops trusting the system and tries to take it all over again.
