Recently purchased a firearm at a big box store. Wife was with me and gave me her credit card so I could get my whopping 5% discount. The clerk at the register asked for the card so I could get the discount. I whipped out a stack of $100's and said, "No thanks". Told my wife, CC companies track gun purchases. Got the good old Eye Roll from her, but she let it go. I pay cash for guns, ammo, shooting range, and LCS purchases. F the FED.

Nicely done! I think Discover was one of a few who came out publicly saying they would track those purchases and limit them. You gotta shop at those mom and pop shops for the cash discount haha. Thanks for sharing.

All banks will be under Fed Now soon. The smaller banks process money from the bigger banks. The bigger banks who are under Fed Now will just say to the smaller banks use the Fed Now system or wait an extra three or four days on top of what you already wait. Or the FDIC will just say in order to keep your FDIC status you have to use the Fed Now system.

Is it necessary? I'm not a fan, but in the global economy the US is the last (or one of the last) nations that does not have instantaneous bank to bank transactions clearing. We are way behind. Not a good look for the world's reserve currency. ACH is old, creaky and allows the bank to hold your money for a few days ... Earning interest on YOUR MONEY while you wait. So not saying FedNow is good, but ACH certainly is not.

I’ve been transferring cash physically from one bank to another bank so it can be faster and more reliable. With this fednow thingy it probably is a step to the decimation of physical US dollars. 🤷‍♂️ it’s interesting
