I blame the FEDs for this, because in the end they benefit by either buying off the failed banks cheaper or something. The fed can print credit as long as someone will borrow it into existence, but they cannot print product (or production).

My opinion is probably heretic, but I really believe Jerome Powell is working based on reports on inflation figures. We can't really tell what will follow until after the inflation result comes in this March. Meanwhile, historical data have proven time and time again that stocks will always outperform bonds in the long run, so I'm sticking out my guns and I'm remaining in the market. Not pulling out $490k at this time. I just need to pick out quality stocks, and I'm good to go. The problem is how to find them.
@TeresaBrickle

In a market like this, the best thing to do is to find someone who has experience with the market, and to follow up with the person. Picking quality stocks require a lot of work, both in analysing quality companies and in reading financial papers. So I'd encourage you to find someone who knows how the market works.

If we are being truthful to ourselves, just like the rich, taxes can be a big pain. Income tax, value added tax, property tax, etc. Paying taxes is good, but we could also create our own tax havens. I personally put my money mostly in the stock market, since its appreciation is not taxable, and then when I sell, I find ways to make the income non-deductible in taxes. I 'm currently sitting on more than $327k of cash, and I'm definitely throwing it in the market. Just thinking of how to not lose it all, since the market is red.

I recently purchased some ETFs. Saving for a market fall is also a bad idea. There are different perspectives on recessions and depressions; we cannot always expect significant rewards; and taking risks is preferable to doing nothing. It's not difficult, but you have to learn and manage. Another thing is that if you can't manage your home, maybe you shouldn't invest on your own. If so, you should hire a CFP to help you diversify your assets to include ETFs/index funds/mutual funds and stocks of companies with consistent cash flows, rather than betting on penny stocks.

The market's uncertainty is one of the reasons I have my daily investment decisions guided by an investment advisor, as their skill set is built around going long and also shorting the market to maximize returns, both employing profit-oriented strategy and laying off risk as a hedge against inevitable downtrends, and when combined with exclusive analysis, it's nearly impossible not to outperform. Since the 2020 pandemic, I've made more than $1.5 million after subsequent investments thus far.

Fed caught between rock and hard place. They have run out of runway. Chickens coming home to roost. They must raise rates to quell aggressive PCE, PPI, and CPI inflation. Problem is our economy can not handle the the interest rate needed to dampen the true rate of inflation which is north of 12-14%, and not the phony stated 6.4%. Volker proved that interest rates need to be higher than inflation rate in order to curb inflation. Remember this post because you will be living it soon.

when inflation started Powell said they wanted to try and stop inflation without sacrificing the economic gains from the recovery. Now he says inflation is under control so does that mean the economic gains from the money printing might not last?

No, that's not what he's saying at all. He's saying if the US doesn't raise the debt ceiling that we'll go into another lockdown and then eventually it'll happen anyway. It's out of his control and hinges purely on Congress. The Fed was created by Congress, not Jay Powell.

guess what ~ The truth about the ROC illegal invasion of Taiwan when World War II ended in 1945, the Allied forces were still discussing how to deal with Taiwan, in that time the Republic of China invaded Taiwan。 In order to sanction the regime of Chiang Kai-shek, the Allied Forces cut off KMT military aid and push forward to give up occupied Taiwan. but the stubborn Chiang regime still occupied Taiwan until the KMT army was defeated by the Communist army on the mainland China. However, the situation changed later when the Korean War broke out. The goal of the Allied Forces changed from forcing the KMT illegal regime to give up occupied Taiwan to preventing Taiwan from being occupied by the Communist Party. However, Taiwan's independence was dominated by the Communist Party at that time. That's why the United States let go of the Chiang regime and the KMT. Now the situation has changed again, the KMT is agent of the CCP in Taiwan. If you want Taiwan not to fall into the Communist Party, just only have Taiwan independence. Long live for Taiwan independent

Hmmm ... and one question, that the inflation is stealing purchasing power from people and is mainly caused by "printing" of money and 0 interest rates which FED is responsible for, was not asked why? ;)

At 56:48 Powell calls the FED a "public institution..." The FED is a PRIVATE institution, a privately held bank, for profit, which won't even let the US Government audit it. Powell knows that. So much for your cred Mr. Powell, not that you ever had any.

Like he said, the FED'S job is for the US to have 2% inflation rate and a maximum unemployment(4%)--which he'd already achieved(3.4% currently). The FED is not there to save the economy--except the stock market...
@aochoa0726
@aochoa0726 Жыл бұрын
He openly admitted he wants unemployment up in an attempt to lower inflation. I think when it comes to unemployment and inflation, the real numbers are probably almost double what they say they're at. As far as his claim that the Fed isn't there to save the economy, every decision they make affects the economy. Nobody wants to be responsible when we're not doing well, but if the economy was booming they'd all be making a claim to it. If you control the interest rates, you have a stake in the state of our economy. This is just my opinion, I'm not an expert by any means.

I am just curious how people still think the economy is strong? 60+% are living pay cheque to pay cheque, 44% of businesses can't pay the rent, rental prices are through the roof, groceries more than 50% higher Microsoft, Google, and most tech companies are cutting jobs...but wait the economy is very strong. Seriously, people?...question: Are you better off today than you were 5 years ago?
@ryanyi6753
@ryanyi6753 Жыл бұрын
The Big techs and oil companies are laying off less than 5% of their employees not because they're not doing well but because they don't want their stock prices to go down any further. And some of them are planning to buyback their stocks because they have so much excess cash and rather than investing more and take on more risk in a recession, they wanna play safe. Most of these people who are laid-off at Big Techs don't stay unemployed for long anyways.
