All due respect, I must disagree. The largest issue is watching them bail out large corporations while hard working people need two jobs just to afford rent/mortgage payments. More and more are losing housing altogether because even with two jobs, they are one missed paycheck from being homeless. That's how we got here.Wal-Mart doesn't pay a living wage, most of their employees are on food stamps because of it, yet Wal Mart gets corporate welfare while thier owners make in one minute the annual salary of their average worker. Seth Moulton, I wishing you a long and healthy life. I can empathize about being right and wishing you were not right. To this day, I am haunted by something I said before Trump was elected.i got caught up in a debate with a very good friend when Trump was running for president the first time. Nothing I said would dissuade her commitment to vote for him. I shouted at her ( I never shout. In fact, I am soft spoken.) The shouting was so out of character. That was upsetting to me. But the words are what I wish away. I said: If Trump wins, it will be the beginning of the end. We are still living with the damage he has left in his wake. Worse, he is not done yet. Beyond the obvious, he has normalized so reprehensible ideologies and behaviors that there is no clear way back. I know my words did not cause him to be who he is. My regret about the words is that I wish they were not true. Every day I wake up and pray that his influence on the country comes to a stop. Every day, I am disappointed. He is not doing this alone. There is a power base behind him. That is what is really the cause for concern.

I just checked Congressman Boulton’s Wikipedia page, and about all I can say is: WOW!!! Without a doubt, he is someone who Trump would characterize as a sucker. After graduating from Harvard with a degree in physics, instead of going to work for some chemical manufacturing company and start making lots of money, he decided to join the Marine Corps and attend Officer Candidate School. Clearly a complete sucker move. And after graduating and being commission as a Second Lieutenant, he served four tours of duty in Iraq. And over there, he continued to do things that Trump would surely label as the actions of a sucker, because rather than doing the smart thing and trying to get a non-combat posting, a/k/a as a REMF, he led an infantry platoon in combat. And from reviewing the various medals he won, including two Bronze Stars and a Navy and Marine Corps Medal of Valor.l, it’s pretty darn clear that he simply refused to end his sucker-like behavior. The last medal was for tending to a wounded Marine while under enemy fire. Obviously, Lieutenant Boulton was so much a sucker in the Trumpian world of Military service, that he seems to have frequently risked dropping from Sucker status to Loser status. During the time of Lieutenant Boulton’s service, from 2001 to 2008, clearly wasting his time on a sucker’s folly, Trump was hosting the Apprentice, while also finding time in his busy schedule to marry his third wife, knock her up and father his fifth kid , have a one-night stand with Stormy Daniels, which has become arguably THE most expensive piece of free tail in the history of mankind. And being the incredible multi tasker that he is, during that time period he also managed to conduct a year-long affair with a Playboy Playmate, while Lieutenant Sucker Boulton wasted seven years defending our country. In conclusion, this goes to show the importance of making good choices in life.

German here. It's frightening to see the parallels between Trump/Maga and Hitler/Nazis. They are both populists who present simple answers to complicated questions/issues because people don't want to break their heads to find the solutions themselves. They want politicians to present them with solutions, it's their job after all to do just that. But that's not how the cookie crumbles. Problems and issues are intertwined and a solution to a concrete problem here might cause issues somewhere else. Solutions are never easy but populists like Trump present easy solutions - and everybody who can think should know how phony they are. We Germans did our homework after the war - but not immediately. It took roughly 15-20 years until young people started to ask questions and doubt society. They uncovered former Nazis in leading positions - be it prosecutors and judges, teachers and university professors, business magnates and politicians. They were left in their positions by the Allied Occupying Forces and their administration to make the country functional again (the cold war scare of the Soviet Union was much more important than rooting out every single Nazi in Germany after all). We've since educated the younger generations thoroughly about the Nazis and how it was possible for them to come to power - via democratic means. The chaos at the end of the Weimar Republic and the sly taking over of Germany should be a cautionary tale to everybody. Instead of (or at least before) celebrating victory over Nazi Germany everybody should study the causes and reasons how and why Germany fell victim to such a disgusting ideology. Our Basic Law is very different from the constitution of the Weimar Republic. We (at least tried to) changed and improved the constitution of the Weimar Republic by looking at other countries and their constitutions. It was a major shake-up after just a quarter of a century. Maybe the US needs to inspect its system after 10 times the span. Some of its institutions and mechanics look archaic and inappropriate to my eyes, e.g. the Electoral College. But that's not my thing to do, that's up to you. And everybody and every nation should look into their own history to find the black spots in their history to prevent repetition. Germany is not perfect in working through its own history, too. We are just starting to acknowledge the crimes of Imperial Germany in the former colonies - which is long overdue. And we haven't (yet) done such a thorough job of working through the crimes of the former GDR and West German actors in and after reunification. That is one factor in the rise of the populist parties (left and right) in the eastern states (former GDR), which are the greatest threat to democracy in Germany.

Semper Fi to you both. I have been an Unaffliated Voter since 2000. This conversation has inspired the " Ole Marine First Sergeant ". I appreciate both of your work and integrity ( something that is missing from both political parties. You both spoke very wise and display WHAT IS MISSING in DC and many state Capitols. I wish I were as enthusised as The Congressman but just don't see a future for tgis Great Country. No matter who wins in 2024, until the January 6th Ring Leaders are held accountable NO ONE WINS. Ken, I vote every time because it's the ONLY time they ask our opinion. Sometimes the proposals are more important. I love absentee ballot, because I can read them closely to form an opinion.
