The AAC version of Vmax is a good bit hotter (and cheaper) . Probably the best expanding round in 5.7mm is Speer Gold dot. By FAR the best armor penetrating round is Elite T6B. Good video! This is probably my favorite handgun caliber of all time.

Pro tip guys, the 62gr subsonics will penetrate many types of IIIA armor. That makes this caliber an incredible suppressor host.

This is interesting, and seems to fly in the face of some tests I've seen. However, you've also checked your gel with the BB so that lends some credibility. Based on what I'm seeing here, why not run FMJ? It's reliably penetrating to FBI standards and tumbling. I'm not really sold on expanding ammunition in 5.7 because it seems it will tend to shed weight and underpenetrate.

Interesting results. Not sure what to think. Cavities in gel look seem pretty decent once they stay to tumble. But can we rely on that type of performance in a self defense scenario? I have considered this or the Ruger for my wife as a home defence option. But I just don't have confidence it is going to effectively stop a threat fast. As we get older I/She like the soft shooting properties. She doesn't like a shotgun any longer and isn't comfortable with an AR.
@BuckeyeBallistics9 ай бұрын
Yeah I'm trying to find data for real world use of this caliber in self defense from a pistol. But shot placement is key more so than bullet performance, and the low recoil and superb accuracy of these certainly aid in shot placement... not to mention the soft armor penetrating capability.

@@BuckeyeBallistics The interesting think is that she switched from a 1.0 Shield 9 to a 2.0 Shield 45 a couple years ago. And it isn't a huge difference in recoil in her mind. But a 45 HST is really attractive to her. So a 22 isn't likely to entice her at this point.

@@BuckeyeBallisticsI’ll just be happy if I can figure out how companies make them completely clear. Every home made gel I’ve ever seen is yellow, including mine.
@BuckeyeBallistics7 ай бұрын
Well, prepare to be happy- the perfectly clear gel is a synthetic gel, not organic gel like we make. Probably the most popular company that makes it is "Clear Ballistics" - I have used their blocks in the past. They are much more expensive, but they do not need to be refridgerated and can be used over and over again. Only problem is, they get less and less clear each time you melt them back down. There is a huge difference between each type, and I would have to write many paragraphs here to explain all the differences. But I made a video explaining all that if you care to know. I would post the link but youtube deletes comments now with links, even my own... The title is "10% Ballistics Gel Comparison Differences Explained - Clear vs FBI"
@donaldham3087 ай бұрын
@@BuckeyeBallisticsoh awesome, and fuck you KZbin. Stop being pricks. I’ll definitely look that up. Thanks! Idk about more expensive though. Well, maybe with pork gelatin. I bought beef and it actually cost more than just buying a clear block lolol. Didn’t know you could melt and reuse though until like yesterday so that’s cool. It’s gotta be a substance like the purple mattresses or those 50¢ vending machine toys like the sticky hand you play with to stick to the car windows after grocery shopping with your mother as a kid. That’s the only synthetic stuff I can think of that reminds me so much of gel.
