Federal judge dismisses Trump classified documents case

Federal Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee, threw out the case against former President Donald Trump and two associates for allegedly mishandling classified material after FBI agents recovered documents in his Mar-a-Lago estate. Cannon ruled that special counsel Jack Smith never had the authority to bring the case because he wasn't properly appointed under federal law. The special counsel said it would appeal.

Her decision is going to be roasted by an appeals court because it's ridiculous. "Beliefs of the Democrat party" You have no idea what you're talking about. Special counsels have been a thing since the 1870's and utilized by both parties. Clarence Thomas and Republicans had no objection when Bill Barr was creating special counsels during Trump's term. But suddenly their opinion suddenly shifts when Trump is being investigated.

That remains to be seen. Cannon is going against decades of precedent and multiple other federal judge rulings. She's not in a position to unilaterally determine Constitutional law. This will be appealed, possibly to the SCOTUS, where so far only 1 compromised justice has indicated support for her interpretation.

He didn't refuse to return them? I'd say hiding them, and filing a false sworn statement with the courts saying that he had returned them would be refusing to return them.
