Oh my god.. How many matches like this have I seen from Federer.. A player who is maybe playing in the form of his life wins a set against him. Then Federer simply raises the level of his game.. Until no one can play at that level anymore. He was unbeatable for years. We know that everything comes to an end, but the years have passed very quickly. Djokovic is the last link between the present and the past.. The last member of the big three.. It was a wonderful era when all three were at their peak.. I'm glad I was a part of it..

Couldn’t hit topspin BH to save his life.

@@e1977k not true his topspin bh is not that bad but his slice is incredible

@@TheSupinesmokey I am not hos hater. Liked his serve and forehand and that he goes to net which is so rare now. I agree his slice is one of the best ever. He just overused it like Grigor and didn’t have it good enoug under pressure (passing shots).

Wow. Once Fed cut down on unforced errors. Picked up that serve game. Started to keep ball higher and deeper. Lopez was a Good sport.!

Also that backhand flick from Federer. It’s as if his arm is made out of rubber.

If you play with a one-hander and can't consistently hit topsin backhands you get found out in the modern era. Look at the guys to win slams with one-handed backhands in the last 20 or so years. Federer, Wawrinka, Thiem and Kuerten. Elite topsin backhands.

The Quality indicator says "1080", but my eyes say "who are you kidding?" Still, a fine selection of a match.

This match craced me up. I think this is the match where McEnroe commented that Feli had one of the worse BHs on the tour - and Roger was "completely unbothered" by the percentages of playing to it and instead played Feli's FH. Roger just played his game and waited for his usual magic to start. Once it did he knew Feli was dunzo.

I watch this match in person and it was insane. Edge of our seats, then in the 4th set people left early to catch the train. Wild though

For me fed could read where his opponent would strike adept his style and crush a player at his peak

Lopez was like the Almagro of fast surfaces. Won tournaments where no very top ranked players entered, but always lost to top seeds. Federer had 13-0 h2h against Feliciano, more signifying how dominant big 3 was (they made it look easy)

Ninja version of Federer in 2007. Afair he was priced up by bookmakers at 1.4 to win US Open.

Guy thought he was winning, but it just made Roger mad.

Lopez is too big for this fast surface and bang bang Federer tennis. But Lopez bh slices are really good. Lopez actually beat Prime rublev not that long ago at the Davis Cup. Maybe 2022? Such a good match, so great to see Lopez beat Rublev with slices and approaches like the good old days when players sought variety and all court.

Mental and physical conditioning. Lopez just faded. And unforced errors against Roger are not really "unforced"...
