Roger was truly fantastic in 2015, in my opinion just as good as in 2017. The only problem was that he ran into younger peak Djokovic in 2015, while Djokovic in 2017 and early 2018 was a non factor. Roger would have won at least 2 slams in 2015 if not for Djokovic. Another thing people also forget is that Federer LIKELY would have won AO 2016 if not for Djokovic. That was one of Nole’s highest levels ever at a slam, and I think Fed would have beaten Andy in the final. Basically overall the amount of finals and semi finals Federer lost to Djokovic and Nadal in the 2010s was obscene. Probably could have had 15 slams in this decade. Even something as late as the 2020 AO could have been won by Rog with no Novak.

i couldn't say djokovic isn't a very skilled player but i can say roger is a fan favorite because it is exciting to see which angle or shot he will pull off noel and many others are standing at the baseline the entire game just an opinion on why so many miss roger and won't forget him

Novak really loved attacking post prime Fed's forehand. Usually forced the latter to hit a cross court buggy defensive forehand shot which then allowed Djokovic to take control of the point.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Federer applaud any of the many many incredible shots Novak has made against him whereas Novak applauds so freely. Nadal has on occasion but of the three, Novak is the most congratulatory. Federer just looks annoyed.
