This is a fascinating story. I got into hats almost by accident, and had no idea what a fedora was until I ordered a Panama hat. When I wanted a felt version, a hatter recommended a "fedora," and it really fit my face well. The editorials and blog posts (many by intelligent authors) seemed earnest in their concern regarding the types of men whom they felt were the living embodiment of this meme, and had clearly identified and felt uncomfortable around them, either in person or online. And it even captured the attention of mainstream gentleman outlets who provide content on traditional male fashion and behaviours. These men quickly jumped to the fedora's defense, outlining the does and don'ts in regards to hats, face shaping, and wearing and pairing. What made me laugh was that Jerry Messing explained that the hat was a tribute to the Blues Brothers, as I have had bandmates tell me that I look like the Blues Brothers when I wear my own fedora. That's a pretty big compliment, and jokingly my response is that my blindness likely leans me more towards Ray from Ray's Music Exchange, the music store where the band rents all their gear. The role was, fittingly enough, played by Ray Charles. Much like Matthew McConaughey and Lincoln, I was wearing fedoras before fedoras were uncool. I'm glad that Jerry was un-phased by the meme upon becoming aware of its existence, especially with the 1-2 punch of having grown up as a child star; lord knows we've seen enough tragic stories. thank you for making this video!

Not that anybody cares at all, but I actually know the guy in 4:17. His name’s Alex and that picture isn’t even for real. As a matter of fact, he took that picture while cosplaying the main character of one of my first comics. Alex though the layout and design/ premise of the comic was cool so he decided to cosplay one of the sketches in particular where the main character wore a Fedora and big glasses (due to the lack of glasses, he wore sunglasses instead in the picture). P.S: The comic strip was set in the 1940’s.
