The term Psychopathic or Sociopathic is often times misused. A Psychopath is someone who is born without empathy while a sociopath is someone who develops the problem and doesn’t feel empathy. It is extremely rare and I mean extremely rare for them to be murderer or serial killer contrary to popular belief. They just don’t feel any empathy. They can’t understand other people emotions though they are ways they can understand it by literally asking themselves how others feel. Can they be violent yes but it is rare. I think should understand this cause this can unnecessary societal pressure and very brash judgement and will solve the actual problems.

Obviously the son is completely wrong and was out of his mind to shoot and kill them, there is no justifying that , but I think there should be some type of lesson or thought here about how the parents were imposing thier religious beliefs on the kid so hard they were going to kick him out or hid his game for it. I used to live in Markham; my brother was friends with the girl who was murdered by her brother. In recent years that city had 2 cases where uni dropouts lied about their academic status and plotted their families' murders. This particular city prides itself in numbers above all else. You can see it in the schools. Every student knows their high school's rank. Other schools will reject transfers if they fear you'll bring their average down. Almost every new resident is just flipping their house, so forget about having a relationship with neighbors. It's not a happy place. It's more of a business or a machine, and I wish it was discussed more.

The main problem is that thye world has accepted the model (born>study>get a job>get a family) as a 100% succesful way of living and don't think out of the box. Who cares if you dont get education (typing this while on my 4th year at uni which i honestly don't know why i even started at first place when i have 0% interest in it). Like... you can get a job even without a graduated uni certificate. Hell you can even sell drugs. Not saying its good but its a way of living. The first story reminds me of my myself, Jennifer Pan, Bart Whitaker, and Chandler Halderson. Basically college kid doesn't go to class, pretends to be, and then commits a familial wipe out. Obviously I didn't do that last one, but if you keep running away from your problems instead of fixing them, you will only increase your problems until they become extremely complicated. That, and your situation is not actually as severe as you think it is. If you just come clean to everything, your family will still support you. In my case, I was caught, and I told them everything. They got angry, but they eventually forgave me. So tldr; don't run away from your problems because you can't and just be honest if you did something wrong, your family will be there to help you.

The first case hits close to home, since I also did the same - skipping uni classes and lying to my mom about it, that is. I honestly didn't want to study anymore; every career didn't sound interesting, and I lost the drive to keep attending classes. I even changed uni once to try a different career elsewhere, but to no avail. I ultimately confessed, though. The fact that I was lying to someone I loved dearly out of being unable to accept the shame eventually caught up with me, and it even made me consider... well, iykyk. My mom, although very obviously mad, forgave me and even cried a bit for what I was even considering to do to myself way back when. I'm blessed to having had the strength to actually own to my mistake, and that my family actually forgave me for it. That third case more or less reminds me of the many, many other bad decisions I'd have made then. So disheartening to see they made such an horrible choice.

This just highlights something I've said for a while which is games don't create killers. Almost every time a game related murder happens it often has more to do with people already in a bad way trying to use games to escape from a reality they can't face with this state of mind slowly deteriorating to a point that they can no longer tell between their escapism and the real world.

The one thing I'm really not happy with about this video is the line "Daniel would pick up unsavory habits such as spending hours upon hours a day watching television and playing video games" at 26:12, especially after just talking about how he was involved in a ski incident that lead to a spinal chord injury and required over a year of resting. Video games are often an escape for people who either willingly do not wish to-- or otherwise can't-- participate in other activities, and the implication that it is somehow inherently worse than being physical and active, especially for someone who had a physical/medical reason why they couldn't, is wrong. There's a difference between "becoming addicted to video games" which was the real crux of the issue, and "playing video games for a long time when you're physically incapable of doing much else".

The story about the Chinese guys makes me think about how people get shot, stabbed, beaten for as little as $20 sometimes. It's kinda wild to think that the dude killed someone over a digital item from a game that doesn't exist anymore but if you phrased it like "guy killed another guy for stealing $1000 from him"... Alright, it's still severe but it's not nearly as close to the wildest thing ever.

In the case of the Chinese guy and the stolen rare item, I do not condone what he has done but understand why he felt compelled to do what he did. The dude was not only betrayed by a friend but said friend also stole an item worth a lot of money and the police refused to do anything about it. Edit: It doesn't matter if it's from a game or a real object, the stealing that sword was basically stealing money from Chiu when the ex-friend sold it online and that awful crime happened because the police refused to do anything about it.

He has pretty much all of the classic signs of a psychopath... People who suffer from psychopathy are normally very egocentric, and not capable of "true" empathy. While he may seem to be empathetic in his messages, take note that he only cared about what his family would think about HIM, if they found out he "screwed up" (which is extremely self-centered). It hurts my heart that nobody seemed to notice and get this guy the help he needed, before it went that far. :(

Idk I feel kinda bad for Daniel tbh? Trauma to the brain/spine can radically change a person’s mental state and adding that to the fact that he was a TEENAGER cooped up in a somewhat militant home for a year kinda seems like a recipe for disaster any way that you put it. It’s completely unsurprising that a teenager with cabin fever became unhealthily addicted to gaming. What else was there for him? If his defense were smarter, they would’ve clung a lot more on his traumatic injury and what being in that state as well as being a teen stuck with nothing to stimulate themselves with could’ve done to his reasoning skills.

This boy was sick, and the games absolutely did not help. If your going to become so lost in video games that you just completely forget or realize that you have people, real life people that love you. Then that’s really sad, and you don’t need to play anymore. I love video games but it’s when I’m bored, and when I want to chill out on a day off from work or something. I’m very happy for the father at the end to get the justice he deserved, as well as fighting for his wife. Despicable the father had to sit in front of his pathetic son just to tell the court the son did it. Literally how low could you be. All because of halo 3.
