Nothing beats the feeling of others sticking up for you. One late evening, I was walking with a female friend to get cigarettes for her at the only place that was open at that time, which was near some clubs. Outside, a guy out of the blue asked her what she was doing with such an ugly guy (i.e. me). Having been in a similar situation before, I was prepared and turned to him to tell him a white lie to shame him, like: "What did you just say to my sister?" (which was not too far from the truth, really), but at the same time, my friend turned to him and started yelling all kinds of profanities and moralizations at him, making him raise his hands, sobering up in a split-second and just gawk at her. She then stormed off, telling me to "come, that loser wasted too much of our time already". Sure made me wonder why she made me come along to keep HER safe, I must admit 😛
