This song used to make me cry and miss having a dog so bad. But I wasn't going to take on an animal I couldn't afford. I had a best friend who was terminally ill and I had known her for 28 years asked me if I wanted her girls when she passed away, and September 18th I adopted her two lil girls and October third she earned her wings. I do absolutely everything I can for my two dogs now. They'd been my best friends as her dogs for 8 years, and now are my whole heart, now they're mine

Crying here. This looks like a Hungarian Vizsla. I had one as a boy. His name was Jackson. He was my best buddy. We did everything together! He was hit by a car back in 1984, and my Grandpa had to put him down so that he did not suffer. I still weep. He was such a good boy!!! My best buddy! He defended my Mama from an intruder and, he stopped my Brother from drifting away in a creek. What a great friend! My goal is to get one for my girls. My advice is to get one of these great dogs for your kids. I cannot stress what a great breed these guys are!

My dog Jake lived to be almost 16 years old. He had arthritis and one day he just wouldn't get up and he quit eating. His health deteriorated fast and he had to be put to sleep hardest thing I had to do I sure do miss him.

I had a Siberian chow/lion chow cross named Russell, but we called him rusty. He was almost 20 years old. He got cancer on his spine, but did fine for a couple years. Then he had a stroke and heart attack at the same time during the night. I begged to let him see if he could pull through like he had so many times before. My parents agreed, then put him to sleep while I was at work. They didn't even let me be there for him, or say goodbye. To add even greater insult they just left him there at the vet's office. I didn't even get to lay him to rest. My point is I know what it is like to have to lose your child/best friend/ brother. I'm sorry for your loss.

My adult, live-in-daughter and I suddenly lost our "Jake" (named Snoopypoo) a 15 year old Chiweenie, on January 31, 2024. We knew Snoopy was getting old, had developed cataracts, but still was a fine looking, very sharp, very protective and loving little buddy , and my constant companion in retirement. We cried for days and nights afterwards. This morning I listened to this song, cried some more. There is NO "GETTING OVER" the doggie or cat love of your life, folks. You get another dog (we couldn't even go a full week without another) and you go on. That's all you can do. You go on. Let me tell you, though, that both my daughter and I are spiritual sensitives. I've had outrageously incredible and more subtle spirit interactions my entire life. Since he left, Snoopypoo has come back to lay on my pillow with me, for a few seconds. Since he left, I caught a fleeting glimpse of Snoopypoo gazing up at me from his favorite chair. A little while ago and for the first time since he left, I used my bed, instead of couch, to catch a quick nap, which I did frequently with him under teh covers. For the first time since he left, I awoke to feel Snoopypoo moving under the covers and going back to sleep. I trust that, the God who took our Snoopy without explaining WHY it was necessary to TAKE HIM, when he was SO LOVED and NEEDED, will alllow Snoopypoo to continue to visit us, and to run back to me, at the moment of my death, to lead me to the Heaven I know he is enjoying, with untold millions of other loved dogs, cats, horses, and the like. Two parting thoughts:"It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all." and "Tears are words the heart can't say".

I recently suffered a great loss in my life... Shortly prior to the loss, my son got a Bull terrier/ Shepard mix . Due to a change in his work schedule, I became the dog sitter. As I sat in my truck crying, his dog climbed up on my lap , put his head on my shoulder, and sharply let his breath out through his nostrils,( he sighed) .As he leaned against me and I hugged him , I realized that I didn't feel as lost and lonely. I have a lot of good friends, who have offered a lot of support and great advice , but this dog is truly my best friend.

One of my favorite songs growing up. I remember after mom and dad got divorced when I was 6 years old and I worshipped the ground my dad walked on but he was heart broke and couldn't take the pain of losing mom me my sister and little brother. So he disappeared from Ohio and I didn't hear from until Christmas morning 2 years later and to a kid that lived his daddy the way I did I couldn't of gotten a better Christmas present than my daddy showing Christmas morning. So we started the relationship back with Dad who came with his new girlfriend which is who he's been married to up to this day and I'm 39 now. He took off to North Carolina after him and my mom's divorce. To this day I've always loved my step mom and couldn't imagine dad with anybody else. I believe the good Lord makes somebody for everyone and he made Sandy for my dad. She's worshipped the ground that man walks on and he does the same with her. Her and my mom have away gotten song great. So anyway dad lived in Indiana and after dad showing mom that he was back for good and never leaving mine and sister and brothers lives again mom let us start spending as much time at his house as we wanted to. Never went thru court and let them decide what they felt was right for us to go see him. So it was the following when we got to go spend 2 weeks out at dads for the first time. Dad was in the military when I was born and to this day he has always got up in the morning with the chickens. It was the first morning I stayed there and I woke up to the smell of my step mom cooking breakfast and coffee brewing and this was the song playing on dad's tv on cmt. That morning at 8 years old is what started my love affair with real country music and to this day it's all I'll listen to. I'm not talking about this fake country music they play on the radio thee days. I won't listen to any of that garbage unless it's Chris Stapleton or Jamey Johnson. That's one of my best childhood memories after my dad came back and just like he said he ain't ever left us again. Some might think him leaving us was a shitty thing to do and it tore me up as a kid but him coming back was more than enough to clean the slate with me. Everybody makes mistakes in life but way back then I learned it's what you learn from those mistakes that defines the person you are. I love my dad and step mom more than I can say just like I love my mom with the only difference being I've always know my mom wouldn't leave us kids and did everything she could of possibly given to make sure we was taken care of growing up. I couldn't of asked the Lord above for better parents and there ain't a day in my life that I wasn't thankful for the ones he gave me. What's really ironic is my dad has a beagle rabbit dog that goes everywhere my dad goes. He eats everything my dad eats. He sleeps right next to my dad every night and his name is Jake. My dad has had many dogs in my life but the only other match made in heaven besides my dad and Jake is my dad and step mom Sandi. So If my dad dies before he wakes he can damn well rest assured that Ill Feed Jake.

I had a cyst come inside my cheek and the biopsy was negative thank God but scroll through the replies on my Comment and see how many good men replied. Even offered her, DaisyMae a home on a farm. OMG I LOVE THIS SONG. i have a german shepard named Spirit. my daughter and i had a roomate who passed away from cancer and he bought him and right away we all fell in love with him. he is a good dog. stayed by him from the time when he found that our roomate was sick until he went to the hospital where he passed away. and that was a month and 4 days ago, and he still waits for him to come home. my daughter and i told him that he will be well taken care of. he will never be abused, or go hungry.

Nothing like the love between a dog and his/her owner. I have to daschunds and they are over the hill and now 12. I'm blessed to still have them in my life. Crushes my heart to know that they wont be here someday, but the joy and love they bring to my life has never been equaled. They are my children - brother and sister. Unconditional love. Strange how dogs pick their owners as if God put them on this planet just for you and only you. I'm a better person because of them. We've been through a lot. So many stories. I don't know what I would do without them and it haunts my dreams. Great song and great tribute. My husband loved this song and always told me to make sure it was played at his funeral we were married 26 years he passed away unexpectedly 3 years ago. Life not been the same I been with him all my life and it's so lonely and we were each other's ride or die and I am glad and thankful for or time but it's so un fair

I read what you posted in the description. In June of 2020 I had to let my boy Dog go. He also was just 1 month shy 14 years old. He had cancer. Your video really brings him back to my thoughts. I still miss him.

Couple years ago, I lost my best friend he was a cockapoo, named Buffy but he had the soul of an Angel always knew how to put a smile on my face. He died in my arms inside I was broke but he kept telling me he's still here, and I have since rescued two more dogs and try everyday to show them the love I learned from Buffy.

I just ran across the beautiful tribute to your dog Jake. My heart goes our to you. I always loved this song. We lost our 16 1/2 year old black lab/springer mix back in March 2019 in similar circumstances. The day before we had to put him down we took him for a ride to all his favorite places, our lake cottage, farm, etc. even though I had to carry him some to help him thru the snow. Our vet came to our house to euthanize Kobe as he was terribly afraid of the vets office. Needless to say it broke our hearts right in two. One year later we got a Reg black lab from our nephew and she has been a joy. But nothing could ever replace Kobe.
