This looks soooo delicious 😋. But unfortunately Breadfruit is not available where i live. (Germany) But when i manage to come to your Wonderful Country i will try it definitely. Thanks for your Effort and keep up your good Work.

They do sell roasted breadfruit sliced and packaged frozen. Do some research.

@@chrisper7527I'm not interested in preprocessed Substitutes.I dont know what a good and ripe Breadfruit looks/smells/feels like, so i cant rate a frozen Product. Freezing changes the Texture and i would not get what he is talking about here. On the other Side is the unnecessary Transport of a Product around the Planet that is not needed here.😅

I respect that! Make it a summer trip when your coming...You get to not only have breadfruit but most of our seasonal fruits are at their peak in the summer months like avocados and mangoes (just as long as we don't have a hurricane)

My favorite 😍. I prefer this over all carbs. 😋 and I prefer it when roasted on an open fire versus the oven.

Always love to see breadfruit. It's better to roast in the oven. Safer and no turning required.
@canjamcooks3 ай бұрын
Not safer. Also produces an unpleasant smell through your house . The Smoke from the open flame adds to the wonderful taste.

You need to do a video on how to choose breadfruit for roasting and for boiling from the supermarket or the market. I think this is most challenging.

Hi Nick, your experience is more than your age. It is great to see that the knowledge is being passed down. I watch so many KZbin videos of folks burning up their breadfruit in huge fires, such a waste especially since I cannot pick one from a tree. You have done a great job with this video.

Really interesting seeing this. They look like dragons' eggs when charred, haha. I doubt I will ever see one all the way over here in Ireland, sadly.

yup, very tropical fruit...even if you get it the chances are it wont be the best quality. The best tasting breadfruits get ripe very quick. A lot of Jamaicans in the diaspora, especially from the UK roast breadfruit when they travel to Jamaica then bring it back home and have it fried!

Definitely learnt a thing or two. Awesome video. Couple questions… on avg, how long does a breadfruit take to roast? Also how do you know which breadfruit is fit and can be picked on the tree?
@feedandteach3 ай бұрын
as little as 15-30 minutes on stove stop is usually good. The time varies a lot depending on heat source, size and the variety of breadfruit. Breadfruit fit for roasting are usually darker, rougher and more rustic with sap or stain marks sometimes, you might even see it look yellow green compared the younger, greener ones used for boiling, it might feel a bit light for its size(not always).

Hello, wow me love roast breadfruit, but because I live in Canada. My late husband was Jamaican. We roasted it in the oven. Why use so much gas? Put it in de oven Mon. Yes outdoor fire is the best. Yummy

Some tricks for stovetop roasting here even though I haven’t yet seen breadfruit in our groceries. My next sweet potato, for instance. A legacy of good things from the bad old days… Thomas Jefferson mentions many of the food crops he introduced in his gardens as being possibilities that slaves could grow to improve their lot (!!??). Olives were a failure in Virginia but sweet potatoes thrived. Something to remember when we roast them for a holiday dinner in the USA.

Heads up everyone! You can do a shallow stovetop roast, then finish it off in the oven. This way, you don’t have to roast on the fire long enough to burn the whole thing; just enough to get the Smokey flavor.

If its too ripe: just scrape it out and fry it like plantain or a fritter. In fact, a few folks actually eat the ripe breadfruit raw, kinda like a custard apple
