Pro Scalper tip: You have to bury the Donut Drifter in the sand for 10,000 years before it becomes valuable.

@@simplekustomsbyeddiepapand1838 At the old K-Mart HW' days I used to inquire on where these collectors stored them, many were taking out storage units. I had cars for 25 years & had to sell them for 30-50 cents. Luckily not too many.

@@simplekustomsbyeddiepapand1838I think that's the OP's point. Hot Wheels is having it's Ty Baby/Funko Pop moment. People paying stupid $ for models they plan to keep (because they think they'll be even more valuable in the future) are gonna lose their a**. Supers, etc., are "hot potatoes," toss them to someone else before the heat is gone.

I was hunting at a local blue place yesterday, and was approached by a 20 something saying "What's up with Hot Wheels? The value of the cars and stuff?" I thought, Good Lord, with a mental eye roll. I told him what I know, because it no longer matters to me. I wished him luck, telling him I don't care about the "valuable" Hot Wheels cars, and collectors like me are moving to other brands (as I tossed an Autoworld car in my cart). As far as Hot Wheels goes, I'm down to collecting a couple specific castings and Fantasy/Art Cars (including the donut drifters).

Folks want to kvetch about fantasy cars on every case unboxing. Those weird cars keep the lights on in the diecast division. Thank a Car-de-Asada for making a Gordon Murray casting possible. I know that I have said this to Walter on his show and maybe one other channel, Desire is the engine of this hobby but Motivation is the fuel. Desire is a turbine engine, it'll run on whatever you put in. Some fuels burn clean, others don't. It falls on us individually to be honest with ourselves what fuel we choose

Instead of Joe dirt call it Joe diecast LOL definitely need some D case cars. I love the Gordon cars they look so good. A lot of electric supercars have tailpipes even though they don't really do anything. No I did mean what casting do you hate the most LOL I agree with you a lot of the fantasies especially this year are not very good I passed on a lot of them and usually I buy some of them that I like for my overall yearly collection. But this year they suck. I do like some of the mainlines that came out with this year because they're different than some of the castings they've been making so that's cool but like you said they go so fast now. I noticed that one of the cars that the archive needs is the donut LOL the car that nobody wants is a car that nobody can get LOL the only reason you do the videos is for the archive what's wrong Joe you don't love us 😊

So basically, 235 model HW cars produced every year are worthless and millions of cars produced every year just sit in dump bins and inventory because they have zero value. Sounds like a lose lose for the store. That would be the first product I'd dump from inventory. In reality it's a rediculous hobby. Hot wheels needs to dump the TH and let kids enjoy the toys once again and free up billions of gig of space on ebay.

Agree. End the STH and TH programs. Leave the scalpers to fight over the premiums.
