Hi, from SW Florida. Yup, going fishing later today and most likely a few more times this weekend. like you, we are blessed by having Fresh and Saltwater fishing opportunities. Our local fishing pier is still closed for repairs caused by Hurricane Wilma, so we have been exploring other local spots. Spanish Mackerel, Snook and Red Drum, including Mike's favourite.. Snapper, are all on the bite now. You guys are an inspiration, keep your lines tight.

My top tips for bream would be that they absolutely adore fishmeal so pellets and fishmeal groundbaits are a must (IMO), personally I like to include a variety of sizes from micro's up to about 8mm as this will keep them occupied and grubbing around longer. Try to make sure there are some larger particles in the mix such as dead maggots and corn otherwise they go into filter feeding mode and you'll struggle to pick up bites. The second tip is to keep the food going in, they're always travelling in shoals and will be unlikely to hang around unless there is enough food to keep them interested. A shoal of big bream will smash through a kilo of particles in minutes and then drift off in search of more food elsewhere so if you don't keep putting it in then you'll only pick up one or two before they drift away and you're left scratching your head until they come back again. Introducing a bed of feed at the start will draw the fish in and give you a head start but after that you've got to keep casting regularly to keep it topped up. Third tip would be to either use the line clip or tie a bit of marker braid onto your line to aid casting accuracy, the line clip is ideal in waters where carp are relatively unlikely but if they are likely to turn up then the line marker is the safer option, just listen for it rattling out of the rings during the cast and use that as your cue to put your finger on the spool. This should keep the distance accurate so all you have to worry about is the direction

Its on the playlist somewhere...Worse,I still haven't learned. Was shore fishing an estuary this afternoon.Tried to leap a gap between ridges with 40lb Backpack ,rods,cameras etc...but I'm not 40 any more. Slight misjudgement and I went in black stinking mud almost up to the waist.Lucky to get out with all the weight on my back...but no camera,as usual I was on my own...Thought I would need a farm tractor to drag me out.Just finished hosing the brown(now black) cords ...

Love it! That fish slime is one of the reasons why I have separate clothes just for fishing. Old bib overalls that I never wear except to fish in. Then I can change pants in the car and put the smelly ones in a bag for laundering. In Korea, we use teng jang paste and garlic powder with our ground bait. It holds together pretty well, and the fish seem to like it. I am like you, I like the peace and quiet of fishing. Informative video!

Anothr great vid Graeme, one tip to combat fish slime (Bream in particular) is to wear a waterproof coat and trousers. I wore them yesterday over a t-shirt and jogging bottoms and wasnt too hot as they're only thin, you can buy some cheap waterproofs off ebay that are thin layered for £15 each, well worth it especially as when i went fishing last week i caught loads of Bream! was a slime fest.

Love that venue. Last time i feeder fished for the bream on the old lake was about 6 years ago. Size 12 korum quick stop hook, 5lb line small hallibut pellet on the hair. Hooked up with Shoulders ffs. Only a rod length out ..30 tense seconds..
@TAFishing6 жыл бұрын
It can be a magic place that's for sure. It is almost the last of its kind as a real mixed fishery. Now its mostly carp everywhere. Nice to mix it up with different species.

Sir I want to ask a question about ground bait for feeder fishing. Those ground baits that you were using are not available in my country. All we have is flour, sweet corn, wheat and bread. I know these can't be used as ground bait bcos they stick too much in the feeder. Kindly tell me the solution if you have one.
@TAFishing6 жыл бұрын
I don't know what you have in your country,but try looking for an animal feed supplier,they should have a lot of different feeds worth a try..Ask farmers or someone who keeps livestock where they get their feed from.
@romiewar316 жыл бұрын
Thanks for replying. Actually I've asked some farmers out here and they told me that bird seeds/feeds can also be used as fishing bait. Their logic is that whatever food that birds can consume, fish can also eat. Is this logic really true from your experience?
@livinglife85656 жыл бұрын
Try strawberry jelly powder and breadcrums either grind the breadcrumb your self or buy it already grounded up at walmart and corn and water wet it but little by little at a time to get a nice consistently also add the corn of course and fish with corn you can get big sacks of corn from farmers dirt cheap from a farmer's and just boil it your self and they love that corn so saves you buying corn all Time so just having to buy jelly but it's cheap enough👌works amazing for carp trust me if not a tin a corn will do and wet it little by little with the corn juice

Hello from America Graeme. Love you and your sons channels. Always learning something new. Just out of curiosity, what rods and reels were you using for your carp set up ?
@TAFishing6 жыл бұрын
They were Mike's "matching" carp rods,in fact it was all his Carp gear,Bivvy,the lot. I don't think I have anything matching...even socks. . I think they were Sonic ? but I may be wrong. I do actually like the reels,they have very smooth drags ,but the rods are a bit soft for punching out. Don't get me wrong we catch plenty of fish with them ,and I think they are a bottom end setup. Certainly good enough for beginners. PM mike he can tell you what it was.I think it came as a package.2 rods,2 reels,big holdall,landing net,for about £300 ??
@cameronstaatz99626 жыл бұрын

I was shortlisted at school for Hampshire selection at one stage. Nothing ever came of it ,but the thought was there. A cracked cheekbone followed by a split lip from trying to hook to square leg too early put the nerves in place ,so the batting never had the same draw for me after that !!...Those cricket balls are quite hard,even when they come off the back of the bat.
