Thanks for the encouragement, Captain Matt! I'm an engineer by trade and after working being a desk for 14 years, I've found worm farming quite refreshing. The hardest part for me is leaving them alone! I've learned a lot from your videos and often times watch with my children. Maybe they can get your autograph some day! Hi Captain Mat, Vanessa here from South Africa. Thank you for all videos . They are incredibly helpful. My question is, once you start adding to the grow out bins and they get really full I don't see that you fluff, airrate or turn the soil in the bottom. Does the soill not stagnate and become smelly? Especially since no way to drain any liquid off 1 ton bags.

I appreciate your honest & simple approach to worm farming. I grew up as a child with my grandfather farming worms. He had a cinderblock building with concrete raised beds throughout. He would make me come in after school and count exactly 100 worms in a box and then would sell to local small stores. I hated that job as a kid but I think after watching your videos I may start this myself. THANK YOU for what you post. And you have a lovely family too!

Hi Matt! I am trying to catch up on all the content you’ve put out so I have lots of questions! What is the dry “worm chow” mix made of and what’s the purpose of it if you’re giving them blended veggies and coffee grounds? Do you ever get bedding materials from donors in the community, and if so, where? I don’t have enough property to use my own leaves/etc. as bedding. Last question has already been asked on this comment section: do you need to heat your garage in order to give this giant worm bin a proper temperature environment? My garage has no heating or insulation right now and it’s getting to be winter time quickly here in Idaho.

Love your videos and how you educate us in such a practical way. I just wanted to ask, how did you build the bulk bins, and is is lined with plastic? (at the bottom as well as the sides?) And what do you suggest to do if you have your worm bin outside to stop the worms from escaping at night?
@CaptainMattsWorms9 ай бұрын
I think we forgot to line the bin from this video - but other bins are lined with plastic just on the sides. Outside, I'd still keep a lid and a light inside if possible.

Hello Captain! In Romania there is, among those who deal with Vermiculture or Vermicomposting, the statement that they actually grow a hybrid created by the State University of California called "Red Wiggler of California" (the scientists from the University of California would have brought improvements to the common red wiggler ) They also call this so-called hybrid also with Eisenia Fetida. Is it true? What do you know about this? With admiration and respect, Stefan!
