it was probably trying to grab the food. they're wild animals with wild instincts, i think if it's eating something tasty in an unsafe position (like being held almost upright), it wants to snatch it and bring it somewhere safer so the food won't get stolen.

@@calamitysangfroid2407 Agreed. Aside from just being an "unsafe" position, it's also physically a stress position that is very uncomfortable to the animal. I've never met an animal that enjoys being held on their spine like that (they will usually twist and squirm and try to wriggle free), but for whatever reason humans just instinctively hold small animals like they're human babies, because that's what comes naturally to us. But unlike bipedal human babies quadrupedal animals are not built to sit upright on their bums, let alone eat upright. It not only compresses their spines it stresses their heart/interferes with circulation causing elevated blood pressure or even tachycardia, and it's worse if they're eating because aside from the obvious potential choking hazard, it can also cause digestive upset like painful gas, acid reflux, or worst case scenario, a blockage of the digestive or intestinal tract. So, unless an animal reclines upright on their back of their own accord (dogs and other domestic animals will sometimes do this when relaxing), I personally think it's best to just avoid forcing them into stressful positions like this for any extended period of time.
