was once waiting at the bus stop and a pigeon flew on my head and proceeded to stay there for 10 minutes until the bus arrived. In those 10 minutes I got my bagel out of my bag and pretty much fed the entire thing to him, reaching my palm up and feeling it peck. I miss that pigeon, made a temp home out of my hair and had a nice lunch with me

@@madamepigeon Most difficult? They are one of the most common birds in cities, which means they thrive there. They also shit everywhere and spread diseases. The streets are generally better off without them.

Aww sometimes they overeat so as to be able to feed their babies later on. They store the food in the crop area. Bless you for being so kind to that pigeon❤

The crop is a pouch that is separate from and above the stomach.

I fricking adore pigeons. I often feed the local pigeons by my local river, along with swans, ducks, grey geese, white geese, Canada geese, seagulls and the odd moorhen!

But then again, they live in the cities on their own volition. Their natural habitat are actually mountains.

@@ninochaosdrache3189 Absolutely not, they have been obligated to live in cities because of domestication of their ancestors. The "original" biset pigeons are almost extincts, and those yes, they live on the rocky coast of the Mediterranean. The pigeons we have in our cities are descendent of domesticated pigeons and have developed a symbiotic relationship with humans, and DEPEND on us for food. Commensalism is the term.

Having reared birds I can tell you that’s an old one… respect to you mate pigeons are an underrated animal tbh… they have terrible PR considering how much they’ve contributed to humanity, yet animals like bears who are vicious predators we make cuddly toys depicting 😂

Whenever I go to the beach, I bring a ton of birdseed to feed the pigeons, it’s magical (yes ik it’s illegal sue me) [please don’t sue me I’m a minor]

i don't think it's a girl. it's probably male. because of it's size, its wobbly chest and a slight aggressiveness (boldness) when pecking. female pigeons tend to be much shier and smaller. they would peck more slowly with their eyes closed (subordination).
