For people not understanding the real world, I mean the world outside of the US, it is very commun to see FREE DOGS in Latin America. They might even belong to a family but they are free to have a walk. Some others have no human family but they live in real hurds. So don't be sad for those DOGS, they are animals, not objects. They living more naturally than dogs trapped in an appartment in NYC. Peace ✌

Please Peru people, help take a stray dogs home.

Good doggos. I hope they get more love! Despite their shyness and lack of trust, I don’t doubt they’d take some getting used to if one were to try rescuing them, but they’d probably come to love it with dedicated owners. Tho they’ll probably need a lot of shots.

They were all good doggos, yes hehe. Some of the dogs not in the video were just too scared to even let me approach them. Poor little things have gone through some traumatic experiences. Thankfully, some locals leave bowls with food outside for them to eat in privacy.

Hey, I appreciate a lot what you are doing for the dogs! Thank you so much, I'm also from Peru and we have a strange relation with street dogs. I know a lot of people who feed this dogs and treat them with respect. I noticed you were having difficulties making the dogs eat. Dogs may not be used to eat that dry food you are giving them, since it is kind of expensive, dogs are used to eat mostly human food and leftovers. An easy way to make food for them maybe to mix cooked chicken/ground beef or turkey with potatoes. Please cook the food, since it may have parasites, dogs can be infected too.
@hellonickitravels1875 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your words! Yes, I found locals who also love and care for these dogs. A lot of small shop/ bodega owners would leave plates with food for them outside the door too. I actually mixed in some wet food as well, although its not very clear in the video. They seemed to like that more but the dry pellets had a lot of nutrients for them so I was determined to make them eat it lol. Next time I will mix in some cooked beef or chicken, thank you for the suggestion!

Stray dogs are skeptical may be due to poisoning. People tend to powder their outside home with rat poison and sometimes the dogs end up smelling it or eating it. Is actually against the law, but people are more concern with rats coming into their home. Who knows how they learned to avoid people, maybe due to rejection, since must people with open businesses tend to scare them away.

This is a double-edged sword though. Now people will neglect their dogs even more willingly since they know that they'll be fed, won't they?
@hellonickitravels1876 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, there is a drawback to what I am doing, but in my opinion, feeding them isn't the only thing that should be done. Locals and tourists raising awareness (through feeding and acknowledging the problem) might force municipalities in Cusco to provide shelter and neutering for these poor animals, who will only keep increasing in numbers and pass on the suffering to their puppies. I know a tourist like me can't do much, but perhaps this video will inspire someone else, with more power, make a big impact. That's my wish.

Hello Nicki Travels it's sad but Peru is a Third World nation and can't spend time helping Animals when People need it more. I love Animals but Humanity is first always
@haroldponte402 жыл бұрын
I'm just going to say it, if you dog lovers got a problem, then yall can suck it. Let me get straight to the point. I don't hate dogs, if people like me ever use the word "hate" then it's either an expression or something very personal. Now, I admire that you're doing the right thing in helping out those dogs. But you were lucky that they didn't harm you in anyway. I cannot stress it enough that people need to be careful in feeding dogs from the street. And I felt bad that some of those dogs didn't appreciate your food but they can be very selfish. We dog haters don't trust dogs one bit, even less if they're from the street. That also includes dogs being needy, disgusting, a walking medical bill, etc. But we don't condone animal cruelty. I could care less what happens to a dog but would never torture one. One of these days, people will have to take dogs seriously and not as play things. We call them man's best friend but that title expired years ago because we're no longer hunters and gatherers. We're more civilized and advanced, so these days, dogs are actually man's challenge.

Some dogs that you saw surely are stray, but a lot are actually someone's pet. That's how we keep them in Peru, roaming free, they know the way home. And I truly believe that's more human than keeping them in small apartments 24/7 with a 10 minutes walk out once a day.
